Stayed her for a night in March, in the family suite. The hotel is currently being updated and the changes that have been made are brilliant - including the beautiful, comfortable lounge and dining room. We made full use of the facilities including the amazing whisky bar and lovely swimming pool (the pool is a bit cold for playing in but perfect for doing lengths, and we had it to ourselves which was a bonus). The owner was so welcoming and staff attentive and helpful. We ate it in the restaurant for our evening meal and the food was delicious! The breakfast the next morning was good too.The family suit was great for us and our needs. We will hopefully come visit again and look forward to seeing the hotel further updated.

A wonderful stay in this cosy but spacious hotel with great sitting areas and roaring fires, very friendly staff and great food. Very clean and tidy and with a swimming pool, gym and sauna it has everything you could ask for. Try out the incredible whisky bar and you'll be trying to give it six stars too.

We made an unscheduled stop here for lunch. Phoning only a short time ahead. Were given an extremely warm welcome, a fire was lit in the lounge where we sat for drinks. The meals far exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend a visit.

Was a really nice Sunday roast dinner. Beef was cooked nicely and the veg was perfectly cooked, especially the carrots. The brownie also went perfectly with the mint ice cream. Will be returning 😃

Beautiful place, drinks reasonably priced with a fantastic choice of whiskies, waitress very helpful with a nice attitude. Biggest and only downside was they weren't serving food on the weekend.

Always a treat to stay or eat here, it's a hotel bursting with character and fun features like a billiards room, pool with sauna and hot tub and of course the largest collection of whisky. So good when I got married I named myself after it.

Absolutely fantastic, the new own is a real joy and she loves greeting everyone when they book in, all the staff are really friendly and the receptionist in the day is very friendly and lovely to talk to, she is also very knowledgeable about the history of the hotel and near by distillerys, i have now stay here on two separate occasions and i am never disappointed, beautiful food and a great service, would recommend 100%.

We were here for Afternoon Tea to celebrate a Diamond Wedding and what a great place for a Doo. We had a lovely afternoon in a sunlit function room with great views over the golf course (Edzell Golf Club is a near neighbour). Lovely fresh sandwiches, cakes and scones - the sausage rolls looked really good, but I didn't try one (pal next to me may have had a few!). Very tasty freshly brewed coffee served from cafetieres really hit the spot. This hotel is a real gem. The new owners have great plans for the hotel and are very kind, helpful, and friendly. Better still they are experienced hotel and hospitality professionals. The hotel facilities are excellent including an indoor swimming pool. The area has lots to offer, great local walks with the hills and coast nearby - and then there's that golf course!
