The Golden Haddock in Angus

My wife and I had two suppers from here tonight was absolutely shocked how little amount of chips we got. Won’t be going back that’s for sure.

I've been going for decades, very good, good size portions

Excellent fish supper cooked perfectly.. nice crispy batter nice crispy chips, fresh tasting food and friendly staff.. visit from Dundee and have used this chip shop many times over the years and I've never had a bad meal yet,have tried others places too but keep coming back here..

Sat in for our meal, very spacious restaurant and helpful staff.fish was as good as we expected. My 76 year old wife left her handbag. owner arrived at our door at 9pm with it, 14 miles to our home...As we had not phoned she correctly knew my wife had not yet missed it. GOLD star service indeed.

Absolutely loved this little chippy. I had the spiced haddock pudding which was out of this world and the smoky haddock tasted so delicious as they promised it would be. The ambience was quite good and it's a must try place to try the local delicacy.

Ordered fish, chicken etc at 4.30pm collected at 4.55pm as requested. I don’t know if what we received was reheated or over cooked but certainly not impressed considering the good quality we have had in the past. Really disappointed on this occasion.Certainly will not be using this chip shop in the near future.

Just had the worst fish suppers I think I’ve ever had. Absolute rubbish. Suspect the fish had been frozen. Very thin and not much of it. Considering they cost £17.90 it was a disgrace. Won’t be back.

Although our food was mainly good I’ve had to deduct two stars due to the following -1/Portions very small compared to other chip shops in the area2/Curry sauce was so thick you could do the “meringue test” without any falling on your head, and it was so hot (spicy) I couldn’t eat it.Note- chip shop curry sauce should be pourable and not 🌶 🌶 🌶Also, it was a little on the expensive side, but I wouldn’t have minded that if the portions were larger (and the curry SAUCE edible).

Well I have had a lot better food. But this place is not hard to beat. The chips were rubbish not very warm. Pure quality of potatoes. Steak pie was recooked to an inch of its life. The crust pastry was hard as toffee. My 1st and last time going there. There's plenty of other chippers here use them.
