Baab in Argyll & Bute

Not sure if it was an off day, but I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. Definitely not worthy of any Michelin star, food was bland and wasn’t even presented well. Very disappointing and a Michelin star is extremely misleading…. Plenty of better places to eat in my opinion.

Tried to book a table for 3 by phone but told no availability then found a minute later I was able to book online?? 8pm meal tried to order salmon sorry just ran out, ordered prawns sorry they've ran out too ok mussels really sorry they are unavailable too. Only one option for fish sea bream, sea food restaurant I don't think so.Tzatziki was watery no garlic no flavour, pitta bread like supermarket plasterboard bread served in a paper bag just left on the table not even on a plate. Chef special mousse sa kaan bland flavourless chicken on flat bread only flavour was the pommegranite sprinkled over it.Michelin star... tasted like a michelin tyre. Very dissapointed.

We had a good meal here in this restaurant located in the bottom floor of a hotel. Service was prompt, and the food was pretty good. They suggest you order some small plates (we ordered hummus and a salad) and a main (I ordered lamb kababs and my wife ordered chicken shish). All were good!

Brilliant restaurant. Throughly enjoyed our evening meal here. Nice spacious environment and friendly attentive staff.Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. The moussaka and mussakhan (both vegan) were fantastic. Good cocktails from the bar outside of the main restaurant.

Delicious food, very good if you would like a reprieve from fish, but fish is still an option. Would recommend

A change from the standard seafood restaurant in Oban.Offering a great choice of food in the Mediterranean style of small and large plates. It is good to pick a few of each to share and sample.The lamb main was so good I had to order another.The restaurant has nice decor, relaxing and well spaced out tables.Really enjoyed our meal here and would go again.

Disgusted. I came here to have a takeaway. Asked them if they did and they didn't answer. Then asked them if they're even open (they had the cash tray in their hands) and they said "no, I'm 20 minutes" so I left and came back 25 minutes later. Then I'm welcomed with "yeah I tried to tell you but you left, we don't do takeaway". Was I sprinting out of the door? No. Was I on skates? No. Is this place inside another building? Yes. Why didn't they just answer me before instead of wasting my time?When I mentioned this I had no response. Not even an apology.Poor communication has led to a poor rating and a Hangry potential customer. Never again.

Overnight in Oban before heading to the Isles. Pleased to say this place lives up to the reviews, friendly staff, thoughtful decor and brilliant flavourful fayre.For us highlights were the Chicken Kebab, Adana kebab, Hummus and Eastern slaw. The chicken 'pizza' type dish was least successful for me.Anyway well worth the high rating.

Fantastic and affordable place in comparison to other restaurants nearby - if you're looking for a nice dining experience with friendly staff and great food then I'd definitely recommend. Most memorable part of the meal for me was the mussels, you can taste how fresh they are and the sauce/seasoning was so refreshing compared to the usual garlic and white wine. We were also fortunate enough to go on the 5th November exactly when the fireworks was on so we got a view of that with our meal.

Absolutely fantastic place. Food was incredible and matched with the quality of service, its been a while since I could say that! The chicken shish kebab was probably my favourite but everything we ate was cooked to perfection.Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Oban to try out.
