Cannon House Hotel in Argyll & Bute

Stayed here 3 times over the year from lockdown to now.The first 2 times were great experience, we had rooms facing the sea twice and a back garden facing room once.The rooms were good and clean, heaters in room and good shower.The hotel’s location, warm service, lovely back garden and yummy breakfast actually keep bringing us back to this hotel however after 6 months when we returned this time, the standard has dropped and the hotel staff has also changed, service was poor and rude at breakfast, food was not as good and the back garden poorly maintained and abandoned.Having said that Rachel was very lovely as we have arrived early, Rachel saw us at the front gate and jumped out from her car and let us check in early which was so nice of her.The fat blonde hair short lady at breakfast was abrupt, rude and has zero customer service attitude. We were totally ignored at breakfast table and there were only 1 other table at that time, after 15 awkward mins my partner went up to check if she was aware that we were there for breakfast, she ‘ordered’ loudly to return to his table and that she will be with us. And it didn’t happen, she went back to the kitchen hole.During check in Rachel told us that due to low occupancy rate we were allowed to have late check out, on the day while we were getting ready to check out slowly at around 11.20am there was a loud banging on our door and questioned us why we were still in the room! Yes it was that fat blonde short rude lassie again! It was such a poor and sour experience this time. No, I will not return to this hotel if any guest is to be treated this way. Remember there are many nice, lovely and friendly hotels available just doors away!! I really hope the owner look into this before losing more customers who just want to have a good time in this lovely island.❗️Photos were taken a year ago! The garden is not the same and looking abandoned with missing tables and chairs and over grown grass and the beautiful giant plants are gone. The front door was broken, we can go out but can’t come back in and had to use back entrance to enter the building!

Lovely room for two, clean, spacious. Breakfast was great, no buffet rubbish, cooked to order. Dawn was great, lovely women. Can't wait to return. Thanks for a great stay.

Great wee hotel fantastic staff Dawn serves a delicious cooked breakfast and could not be more helpful or friendly .would highly recommend

After finding ourselves in a late emergency requiring accomodation the staff at Cannon House quickly prepared rooms for us. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and cosy. The Scottish breakfast was just right to set us up for the day. Thank you @Cannon house.

Tidy if dated and abit tired but clean, cheap and pet friendly. Breakfast was fine for what we paid. Very close to the ferry terminal. With frendly staff, a good spot for a short stop.

Ideal b&b, spotlessly clean, staff friendly, good full Scottish breakfast. Our room had lovely bay view. Decor old fashioned but clean and tidy. Thanks, we would stay again.

Room had broken window, when I called to ask if it could be fixed, all that was done was lots of towels were stuffed in window! It was so cold through night as couldn’t close it. Tried putting heating on but it goes off during night. They did at least allow us to move rooms when I complained but no offer of any compensation for terrible first night was made. This room also had a broken door handle in bathroom that fell off every time you tried to close it, broken chair and the bed was most uncomfortable bed we’ve ever slept in. The second room was much better and had lovely sea view. But we were there for three nights and the room wasn’t cleaned which meant we had piles of rubbish - there was only a tiny bin in the bathroom.There is no reception area and no one around- you have to call a number to be given a code to get in! Extremely over priced for state of room and no way is it three star! Shabby decor in need of Re decorating. It should be two at the very most!

Read mixed reviews before going here yesterday but you could tell the room was recently decorated. There was a number to call when arriving who told us what to do and we were then allowed entry. The entrance is a bit tired.

No reception or instructions on how to check in. Had to search for a phone number. Room was tired and the carpet was filthy. There was a strong smell of smoking coming from downstairs which went on all night and despite reporting this to the owner on the phone. There's no staff about until breakfast. The waitress was eager to please and the breakfast was ok, especially the coffee. For £99 I would expect a better experience.

Nice B&B for Bute Island visit. Plenty of places to explore by car, cycling and walking. Convenience for Ferry minutes away but far enough to be quieter and excellent seafront views.
