The food was rather disappointing, the place was quite busy and that may be the reason why the food was not especially well cooked. The scallops were still raw inside, the mussels were cold and undercooked, the langostines were stone cold as well.Thankfully the chips were hot although some were also undercooked. The owner was quite apologetic and offered to replace the food that we received with something better cooked but it was just too late as the lunch was basically already ruined.Perhaps the quality of the food will improve when the place is not so busy. All in all, not a very good experience for us.

It's ok, like it's not bad. I had the scallop and chips but preferred the scallops from the green shack just next to the ferry terminal.

Quite busy, slightly abrupt service but tasty Langoustine and chips.

Have been twice. No impressed. First had a seafood salad. Don't like dressing. Very sweet. Chips was ok.Second time, ordered fish and chips. Force fish and chips I ever had. Fish was terrible and mushy and not in butter. Very bad , you will expect the best. Never again. And will not recommend.

Regardless how much this individual pays for his site licence, the council really needs to take into account the quality of the food offered at what is a prestige location, reflecting to tourists what Oban has to offer. The food, at premium pricing, is disgusting cheap rubbish which makes McDonald's appear cordon bleu.Someone in authority, with pride in their town, needs to shut this food seller down.So disappointing, in what is a wonderful setting.

My mother is a seafood fanatic and I seriously considered getting her to make the drive here from the Central Belt to have some of MacGillivrays food. Everything was delicious and I'm gutted we didn't have an extra day in Oban to go back again before we left!

We had the most tasty, fresh Langoustines and delicious chips here. On a warm and delightfully sunny day in Oban. 10 Langoustines, ( AKA:- Dublin Bay Prawns ) buttered brown bread, chips and a slice of Lemon all for only £10 !! Great value a real taste of the sea. Straight from the boat that morning !! Fabulous!!

Drove from Glasgow, having heard some great things about the food here. Imagine my surprise when it wasn't opened- all the food boards were out but van was closed up. This was 2pm yesterday. Website stated they were open until 10 pm. Very poor. No communication through website at all.👎👎👎

Was sceptical to start with and my fears were soon to be tasted! Whist waiting on our 'fresh cooked' meal I noticed the sea food up for grabs was about as fresh as my dogs breath! The scallops were turning yellow and their usually white flesh was cracked and dry looking. The other items didn't seem much better. When we got our £20 fish and chips, what a ridiculous price anyway! The chips were clearly something from the frozen isle of a supermarket and the fish looked like a burnt insole, quite clearly previously cooked and now reheat! For the price of this terrible meal for two, only just around the corner is a lovely first floor restaurant in which they serve a fresh and varied well thought out menu at a reasonably price. We should have gone there. In fact anywhere would have been better than the tripe we were handed! Any way the prize for the most embarrassing waste of time and taste buds goes to MacGillivrays Seafood hut of lies! Tuck in at your sorrow!
