Very friendly staff. Food very good with a warm relaxing atmosphere. All staff were brilliant with the dog giving plenty dog treats and even a couple of sausages on the house.

We had heard great things about this hotel but we were a bit disappointed in some things. Firstly the positives...nice, warm greeting at reception, easy check in and into our room. Room was nice and fresh... bed comfortable, just a little stuffy and l could not adjust the radiator so we kept windows open in room and bathroom but still not much air. Only one very small chair to sit on. We had dinner in the hotel and on the whole the food was nice but we felt the choice was a wee bit limited on the evening menu. We enjoyed what we chose. Drinks were a fair price as well. Entertainment was good and a nice atmosphere in general. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was not so good....the food was lukewarm and bacon hardly cooked....you make your own toast on a hopeless machine that takes 3 or 4 goes to even lightly brown....good choice of items but not very well cooked...maybe lying in a hotplate? After we were seated awaiting breakfast l noticed what looked like ketchup stains on the wall beside me....l pointed it out but it didn't seem to matter? We were not offered another table so just put up with it....a bit off putting. The staff work very hard and always with a smile and there were only two of them serving breakfast on a busy service....so we chose not to complain about food or dirty wall.Maybe the pandemic has had an effect on much of the hospitality industry but we were a bit disappointed with parts of our stay, and it's a while since we have had a break. Maybe things will improve.

The reason this does not get 5 stars from me is the fact that they still have the same menu from years ago. Come on, put something new on! We've eaten everything over again but love coming to the pub, but need new things on the menu and not just a couple of specials on the board.

I've stayed at the George quite a few times and often pop in every couple of months normally for lunch or a coffee. Yesterday however was my strangest experience there. I came in at 2pm for a coffee and my partner a drink. I didn't want any food but would have probably had done my usual and got a cake but I was told we could not sit at a table but we were to perch at the bar on stools lft ke bar flies. There were loads of empty tables in all of the rooms and ( I'm not talking about the bit at the back that looks like it's used for functions) I asked if they were all reserved and I was told no but they were for people wanting food only! I wasn't going to be hogging a table all day probably not even an hour. My mother normally comes with me and I'm so glad that she didn't yesterday as she would have been expected to perch at the bar. It seems that the George has put profit before anything else and are happy to turn away paying customers in speculation that they'll fill the all of the tables within a hour. This does not make good business sense. Ended up going to the brambles and they couldn't believe it either when I had said what had just happened. As it was I stopped off at loch fyne for a late lunch which was lovely and welcoming.

My husband & I only dined at the hotel on the 04/02/22. We would highly recommend it. It was busy, so would advise booking a table. The food was tasty, well presented, & plentiful. The service & friendliness from our waitress Robyn & the manager who found us a better table without us asking was excellent. A couple entertained with folk songs. A great & positive experience. Thank you George Hotel

Been before and enjoyed the experience so went back. We were not disappointed as the staff were as friendly and efficient as before and the food was good. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Loved the food loved the staff there is not a lot else to say! Got a change to speak to the owner what a lovely person. The George is a family run and so welcoming to all from humans to animals. I was witness to their kindness an older gentleman was in who wanted porridge as it was lunch time I was unsure if he'd get his request could I be more wrong!!!! The chef made it especially for him what a great team what a great place.

We dropped in on the off chance of getting a table, luckily, we managed to get one for the five of us and the dog! The staff are very friendly and accommodating, eager to help and make sure we were looked after. The service is slick and the food high calibre. When I said we we're lucky to get a table; when we arrived, 15 minutes before Lunch, the place was almost empty but it soon filled up, which is further testament to its obvious reputation, as an excellent eatery, the speed of service and quality of the food.If you are in the area, make sure you make a visit, I'm sure you will not be disappointed, in any way.
