The Pokey Hat in Argyll & Bute

Very mixed bag as an overall experience. They seem to open when ever the hell they feel like it, and they don't post opening hours. We even went into neighbouring businesses to ask if they knew when they'd open and were always met with shrugs and wry grins. I dunno I guess its owned by someone who doesn't need the money!. On one occasion when we were waiting for it to open, several families walked up to the door, waited maybe two mins, then walked off not returning. However, when they are open it was by far the best ice cream in the area and the staff were lovely, which only makes their attitude to doing business all the more frustrating.

Best ice cream I have had outside of Italy ( including some in Italy ) good price generous portions and friendly staff.

Great ice cream! Had the salted caramel and my husband had the Ferraro rocher - both were gorgeous but our favourite was definitely salted caramel!

This place had a sign outside saying it was artisan Italian ice cream! Dont waste your time! Pure powdered milk and sugar with unatural flavoring. 4£ for 2 big scoops! No sorbets! Im italian!

Good customer service but not so good ice cream. They definitely do not serve Italian style ice cream as they advertise. Ice cream was full of ice crystals, and the taste was mediocre at best.

HiI enjoy ice cream to be honest. Been here 2 times. Previous time, taste of ice cream was fantastic and customer service excellent. 5/5 . No complaints.This time, which was yesterday, old lady who serviced us definitely had attitude issue. My oldest daughter noted this also. I ignore this to bad day.Ice cream was really terrible. Very icey. Very tasteless. Disappointed. Next time, will goto Oban chocolate company instead.

Ice cream good enough but opening times not displayed which makes it hard to know when to go, and is cash only.

Best ice cream in Oban. I'm not local to Scotland and when I go I always try and go to oban for a few hours. So much choice in ice cream. I had a chocolate orange one. It was amazing!

Ice cream is OK but in warm weather they give it to you slightly melted (it is very hot inside the place). Girls working over summer are very nice but before peak season workers do not make you feel very welcome, especially if you bring dogs.

Best ice-cream ever especially the big dipper cone which gives you 6 scoops for the reasonable price of 12 pounds.thr flavours are unique, like Parma violet and toffee ripple which taste delicious and with the massive cone they give you a lot of flakes, wafers ect and it isn't too difficult to eat as they provide spoons. The ice-cream doesn't melt quickly and is delicious
