We had a two night overnight here, the food was fantastic as was the service. The hosts were friendly and approachable. Some parts of the hotel were a little rundown, but generally very clean, with great lounges with open fires .......rooms were clean and sea views were immense, pictures from room 9 second floor included below. I know the managers have taken over recently and the hard work they do shows. The hotel also has a small pub called shinty bar, it is a bit rough around the edges but great for a swift pint, which was very good.

Spent 2 nights here over New Year and had the best time. Georgous little hotel in a great location. The service was fab. The manager was absolutely on it on arrival, really welcoming and attentive. The place is decorated so well. Traditional, but with added attention to detail. Our room was lovely and we loved all the little extras they have taken the time to provide.Breakfast was amazing. All high quality, love to get Stornoway black pudding! Eggs cooked to perfection.Dinner at night was 5* and totally exceeded our expectations. For a small set menu they had something for everyone, and the attention to detail on presentation was way more than you would expect. All of the staff and the owners clearly care about you and your stay and want to give you the best possible experience, which made it really stand out for me.

Great place to stay and/or eat. Our bathroom was very large and equipped with comfy bathrobes. The lounges downstairs have cozy fires burning and lots of places to sit. Sleeping can be a little noisy if other guests are loud, but you may be more lucky. Still, highly recommended.

Everything in the previous reviews about Greg and his ultimated job roles within the Royal are truly true.A two night stay in The Royal was just so perfect , rooms furnished to a high standard and Room 2, we even had a four poster bed.Hotel, clean, fresh, welcoming and very quickly put you at ease with the ambience. The bar, restaurant are very good. You definitely need to have the Fish and chips with fish dressing, it was a delight.Days were spent walking along the shore, taking in scenery which makes Scotland so magical.A walk to the "Big Chair" was just breathtaking, not easy to find right enough, a signpost would have been good. (Turn left out the hotel on the main A8003, drive 1mile approx 1st P parking laybe on RHS, park up on LHS you will see some stairs and a gate, follow bracken, steep path to top. Big Chair will appear in front of you, views are breathtaking, well worth the climb.

Just spent two nights here. The hotel was brilliant, the food was simply exceptional. Whether it was breakfast or dinner, completely flawless. The owner/manager/Jack of all trades, Greg, made the break away. Such a lovely human, very attentive and engaging.

Amazing 2 nights away. The hotel is right on the waterfront just a stones throw away from the shore. The views from the room was just breathtaking. All the staff were very knowledgeable about the Covid Rules and the Hotel was very well laid out for social distancing. The food in the restaurant was excellent, the fish so fresh and tasty and everything was piping hot. There was such a choice for breakfast, which was pre ordered (but if you wanted to add something then everything was done to try and accommodate. The vegetarian breakfast was lovely and flavoursome. The staff were polite, courteous and very good at their jobs. Greg the owner was very attentive and chatty nothing was to much of a problem for him, he will be sadly missed. We wish him well on his new adventures and can honestly say, Greg the little touches are what makes your Hotel such a pleasurable experience. It was a joy to have met you.

We stayed in one of the sea view bay window rooms. Spectacular view, spotlessly clean and comfortable, we really couldn't have asked for more. The hotel is family run and very welcoming. We ate both breakfast and dinner the two days/nights we stayed and both were good. Well deserving of the good reviews it has received.
