the victoria hotel restaurant in Argyll & Bute

Lovely hotel. Clean and warm. Friendly staff. Unfortunately the restaurant is closed at the moment due to staff shortages but the food at their other hotel, the Esplanade, has been great. The staff at the restaurant have been fabulous.

Sub par organisation at reception - Thin walls and creeky floorboards mean if you want a good night sleep, good luck - breakfast and shower are the highlights

They are short of staff but are doing a great job. Good clean, well presented rooms. Attentive staff, lovely breakfast with dinner served in their other hotel just down the road. Dinner food is very good. Highly recommended.

Was extremely disappointed with our 2 night stay. Room okay. Nothing special. Had to book your breakfast the night before. Not always the best option as I really do I know what I want to eat until the morning. We had booked evening meal in the hotel but due to the chef bing injured this was moved to the sister hotel the Esplanade Hotel. Food was nothing to right home about and we were asked to leave right after we had finished our meal as the staff were tired due to working long shifts.As for the bar in the hotel it was closed early both night. With 4 of us staying we spent about £800 for the hotel and meal and drinks for our 2 night stay. Definitely not value for money. I will not be back.

Very comfortable room overlooking Rothesay Bay, Promenade, Gardens and Ferry Terminal.Good breakfast and an evening meal along the road at the Esplanade Hotel.Check in was somewhat prolonged by Covid procedureVery comfortable bar and louge.

Bit dated .no lifts in a 3 storey building. Food was OK. Not worth the price .room small with en suite. TV small .toiletries were in the en suite. Bath was not to high to step into shower. Shower was not easy to get a suitable setting for a comfortable shower .breakfast was quit adequate and the highlight of the 2 night stay

Went here for 1 nite that was enough. Was charge £106 . After arrival was informed restaurant and bar was closed due to lack of staff.was advised to go to there sister hotel for food which was approximately half mile away wasn't impressed with food there.Had breakfast in the Victoria which was poor to say the least. This Hotel is charging Hotel prices for providing b&b facilities. Our next e.mail will be trading standards .Our room had a king-size bed well that what we thought when we fell through the middle of it then discovered it was two single beds pushed together with a king-size quilt thrown over it . Certainly won't be going back there would have got a nice b&b for half the price 😪😪

Rooms are really big, clean and the views are great. Food down in Ghillies is also great value and the best on the island.However, the door locks are an issue. In order to lock the door when leaving your room, you need to first turn a button on the inside of the door, before closing it behind you. The fact that the hotel feels the need to explain this to you first at check-in and then have an illustrated guide on the wall of your room repeating this odd process should lead them to the realisation that its time to replace & upgrade their room security.It's a small issue though, and should not detract from an enjoyable stay.

We stayed in a double room on 3rd floor, very small, door hits the bed as you go in, room clean and tidy, beautiful view from the rather small poky window, food in restraunt nice, breakfast lovely and adequate, would come back but would look to get a bigger toom/bed.
