The Village Inn in Argyll & Bute

Emma and the team were all very welcoming. The weather outside was cloudy and wet but the sunshine and smiles indoors made up for the ever changing Scottish weather. The food was splendid, quick service and every member of staff has a little skip in their step! Will definitely be back to this hidden gem in the Scottish countryside.

We have stayed here before and loved the location, atmosphere and the friendly staff. This was the first trip that we had to take our old Labrador with us and were slightly apprehensive as she has osteoarthritis and can't lie on the ground. We were able to take her bed into the bar for breakfast and dinner which made it much more relaxing for us all!! Definitely very dog friendly. The dog friendly rooms have access to the garden which means it's easy to let your dog out at any time. Love, love love x

I’m new to the local area and I’m so glad this is on my doorstep. Fantastic selection of whisky and local beer. The staff are so friendly and are always happy to help. I’ve eaten here a few times and can’t fault the food. I was there Wednesday this week and the rib eye steak was absolutely gorgeous, cooked to perfection and even better it was Scottish sourced. My partner had vegetable gyoza’s and they were presented so well and tasted so good. Keep up the great work!

Nice bar, good selection of Ales.Rooms well equipped BUT....room 1 is right above the kitchen extraction fan... it's like a a jet engine running.The breakfast service was poor. Very poor....the actual fry up was nice but, cereal on request, one slice of toast. No fruit juice unless you ask.... It's a shame because a few simple changes would make a huge difference...

Should be five stars.This is a lovely place, the food is excellent and the building has a lovely charm.Why have I given only three stars? The service in a hotel is everything, and it just wasn't up to scratch. Nothing to do with the staff, they are lovely and never stopped. The problem is the staff to customer ratio. There's just no way three front of house staff can run a full hotel and restaurant. I would have loved to try a sweet after dinner, but our dinner dishes still hadn't been collected after we'd finished our wine, then we retired to our room. It was just a bit of a let down. There was little point raising it, that would have added more stress and load to an already overworked team.We'll definitely go back, and hopefully the staff issues will he sorted, or the management might just take fewer bookings. Then I can add a couple more stars.Breakfast was a different experience, attentive staff, bit of conversation and a great meal to start the day.

Had lunch here, good food. Lovely atmosphere. Young Adam the barman was very friendly and a very nice young man. Thursday, 27/1/22 went again for the steak. Was not a waisted journey. 10 oz Angus rib eye,. One of the nicest steaks I've had. Would highly recommend a visit.

Loved this pub! Has several areas, from open restaurant to cozy cubby near fire and a smaller area with a bar.Food was really good. We had the Sunday roast and between us tried all the options, even the veggie one ...all were delicious and who can argue with bottomless roast potatoes and Yorkshire puds?We popped in several times just for a drink and really enjoyed the warm welcome and friendly vibe. A wonderful spot on the edge of the loch and a great destination after stunning hikes in surrounding areas and up The Cobbler.

Had the beef pie & veg with a few beverages. A* GnT 😉 Lovely & well recommended the place. Also a few air B&N V close to this pub which made it all the easier. The pub is in a beautiful location. Scotland may have tonnes of rain & wind most of the time but it has some of the most picturesque views of anywhere in the world.

Had an overnight stay at the Village Inn last night (13/01/22) with my wife and our dog. The staff were very welcoming when we arrived. Meal in the pub section was great as were the tap beers and ales. Ali, who was working in the bar area was a very polite young man, a credit to the company. Breakfast was a decent standard with a good choice available. Overall loved the stay here and will definitely return for a few nights next time.

The Inn is very attractive with the decor inside and out enhancing the lovely old building. The twinkling lights draw you in. Accommodation is high quality and tasteful. We received a warm and very efficient welcome at check in. The circumstances of my stay meant I didn't eat at the Inn, but the self - styled lovely 'night fairy' lady made sure I set off on my journey home with everything I needed even though that was before official breakfast time. I would highly recommend this oasis of good taste in a community populated with hotels catering mostly for bus parties.
