Jute Cafe Bar in Dundee City

Terrible experience, we were asked to leave as for some reason my partner and niece were having too much fun in regards to laughing which for some reason the staff thought was too much for the clientele, have lived in Dundee all my life and have never experienced this….ever!!! I can guarantee you I will never step foot In here again and will be telling all my friends and family which are vast locally to do the same!!! Awful experience

Service was terrific. Friendly and efficient staff, with good sense of humour, made our dinner run very smoothly. Food was good, but the menu is a tad muddled about its concept, and seasoning was a bit hit and miss. But the ambience is lovely, and I'd absolutely recommend Jute.

I arrived in a group of six at 10am on Saturday morning for some breakfast. We were the first people there - we were seated and told to order with the QR code on the table, and we all ordered food and drinks and a jug of water for the table at 10:10.The water was brought to us at 10:40 and the drinks came at 11, along with a member of staff who told us that we were not going to get any food. She said that the chef was self-isolating.Why did it take almost an hour for them to tell us that? If we had been told at the beginning that food was not being served, we could have gone somewhere else.We had a train to catch at 11:30 and plans throughout the day, as I was there for my hen party, so we were left with no time to organise somewhere else to eat.We got our food refunded but not our drinks.I'm the last person to ever write a complaint usually, but it was really truly awful service.

Horrible experience. Do not go if you’re an LGBTQ+ or a foreigner. Really bad customer service with no regard to their customers. Disgraceful treatment and very patronising. Rude and no respect. Tried to make a complaint but no one seems to care.

My partner who used to go to this restaurant and I went for our dinner and I got disappointed a lot due to the food quality and especially customer service. (We ordered lamb and sirloin steak, but those were not medium rare – we ordered more like rare, but how they cooked meat was disappointing – more like well-done) I found black strings on my partner's plate and there was no feedback at all after we let a waitress know about the thing. Atmosphere wasn't very good.

Visited on 30th April very cold could do with outdoor heaters. New way of scanning in and ordering drinks online no too straight forward, even girls working there bit confused. Noticed few folk had to order drinks through waitress who was checking people had managed to order. Bit confusing for us regular older clients.

Excellent lunch menu, full of variety and healthy options to suit all palates and dietary requirements - snacks, sandwiches and full meals. We had, between three, a vegetable curry, salt and pepper squid with a salad of mango and avocado, halloumi skewers with aioli and a side of piri piri fries, all delicious.

I have been here several times for drinks and there is always lots of choice on offer. The food is also very good. A great place to go if you are also visiting the DCA cinema.

Great cafe, attentive and friendly staff, extensive menu, delicious food and generous portions. It's usually really busy so I'd recommend booking a table in advance.
