We were looking for a wedding venue and remembered coming here for a Christmas fair a few years ago. We met with Shona, the events coordinator at the time, who was absolutely lovely and showed us the beautiful event spaces. We’re vegan and wanted to try the food before committing, as vegan food can be done so badly and is often boring, so we booked an evening meal soon after. The chef had prepared a vegan menu for us with two options for each course. We ordered both for each one and they were all really delicious. The service was also amazing and our waitress was really friendly. We’ve booked our wedding, and can’t wait!

The location of the hotel is well situated and the exterior and interior are both beautiful. The staff were attentive and the service was excellent. The food was of the highest quality and was nothing less than perfect . I will certainly return and will definitely recommend the restaurant to family and friends.

Had a birthday meal in the outdoor pod. Lovely setting but the smallest portion of fish and chips ever. Had to go to McDonald’s on the way home . Everyone at the table had finished their meal with in 5 minutes. Don’t go unless you’ve already eaten

Went for afternoon tea on an Itison voucher. Lovely building.Food was okay. Dining room is not very enticing and service was not the best. When it came to leaving we had to wait 10 minutes in reception till we found a member of staff to pay.

Enjoyed a very nice meal here in a lovely setting. The burgers were quite large and I enjoyed the chicken Kiev. Staff were attentive.

Myself and 2 friends booked one of the Domes for an evening meal. We were initially delighted with the dome as it was spacious with heating and a speaker for music however our experience unfortunately went down hill from there. Our service was very poor from a waiter who initially came into the pod and pointed us in the direction of (what he thought was) the correct menu from which we made our choice. He then took our order and came back shortly after to explain that WE had chosen from the wrong menu. He then continued to argue with us about this claiming that he had not told us that this was the menu we were to choose from (despite us clarifying the menu page with him at least 3 times beforehand). Now I know that the customer is not always right however arguing with us when we were clearly misinformed is disappointing and just annoyed us. We were thereafter served by another person who abruptly informed us of our limited time in the dome and made sure we were aware that we must be out within the 2 hours. We understood this however felt rushed from there on out. Paying £45 (on top of the meal price) for the dome and not really having time to enjoy it. The food was mediocre with very small portions for the price with only 1 option for my vegetarian friend (not accommodating in times where a lot of people are either vegan or vegetarian). Overall, we were disappointed with our meal and experience and won’t be returning.

We had a lovely afternoon tea here. The building and interior were beautiful, service was good and the food was delicious.Only complaint, the entertainment was an acoustic guitarist who was bellowing tunes at the top of his lungs, making it very difficult to have a conversation. The songs didn’t fit the atmosphere of the room and were better suited for a party night or evening entertainment - not a quiet afternoon get together. We weren’t the only table who thought so.(No disrespect to him - he was very talented, just far too loud for a quiet and cosy afternoon tea setting!)

Fabulous night in a pod at Taypark. We chose the Tasting Menu & enjoyed 5 delicious courses with a glass of champagne. The pods are heated, but wise to dress appropriately & layer up - wraps & blankets required, but an amazing dining experience !!

So this is going to be a little long winded but is the first review I have written due to the awful experience we have just received this evening. We “dined” here tonight as a family of 8. The evening started perfect. A stunning venue, polite waitress and gorgeous setting. Things started getting worse when the first and only round of drinks we got was missing parts (no big deal, it’s hospitality, this happens). The menu read beautifully and the 8 of us were basically salivating at the thought of our meals. Nobody ordered starters as the desserts sounded too good and we didn’t want to overface ourselves. The mains came and everything LOOKED great. The visuals were where that ended. The steak pies were pre made and had soggy tops, the beef in the pie was soft but basically swimming in watered down bisto water. The vegetables for the steak pie were stone cold, the sauce was cold and the chips overcooked and dry.Three of our eight ordered steak which was cooked well. They also ordered a peppercorn sauce each for an additional £3.50 per person. The sauce came in a small dish and was barely coating the bottom. When we asked them if we could please have a little more the waitress politely apologised, took back the original pots and said she would get more. They returned around 10 minutes later with the same pots topped up with boiling water, taking the beautiful creamy consistency of the original bit of sauce first served to a watery flavourless soup. When the waitress came back and asked how the food was, we told her about the watered down sauce and she apologised again, but nothing was done.By this point our issue was handed to another polite young man. He had spoken to the manager (who refused to deal with us) and they would take the sauce off the bill and offered us 25% off the bill and give us a free round of tea or coffee for the troubles. This was accepted and appreciated, until the bill came 30 minutes later and with no coffee ordered and none of the items promised were removed. We then started getting upset having waited over 40 minutes since the mains being taken away and the bill not being adjusted. After not being able to speak to a manager and being left at our table with zero service we decided that we would pay 50% of the entire bill and walk away. The manager ‘Stewart’ decided to reveal who he was at this point and immediately decided to threaten to call the police. After he denied hearing any of our issues over the evening he decided to meet our complaint with nothing but unprofessional, arrogant and rude attitude. After trying to explain again that our service, food and general experience of our visit was at this point appalling we decided to rectify the bill ourselves explaining to what appeared to be a juvenile manager what was wrong we had agreed on the bill, paid and left extremely disappointed and with an awful taste in our mouths about Taypark house. We will NOT be returning
And FYI Stewart, the law regarding hospitality is
.The law says food and drink served in a restaurant must be of satisfactory quality and as described on the menu. This means all food should look reasonably presentable and taste good. If it does not, the restaurant is in breach of contract and you can ask for it to be changed or refuse to pay.
