"One of the finest pubs in Dundee for over 150 years, The Phoenix is a traditional Scottish establishment with great selections of beers, wine, spirits, and local gins. Join us for food too. We have a tasty and affordable menu featuring our classics: chili burger and curly fries."

Was the for food and a few drinks, we had a dog with us and after being refused in 2 other pubs was welcomed and the dog was spoiled by the staff and fellow drinkers, had a great afternoon and thanks again to the Phoenix.

Fantastic local pub. Good value food and well looked after beer 🍻

I visited with an American friend. She wanted to try genuine 'pub' food instead of the themed type which is prevalent in her part of the States. We had cheese burgers and the 'ganga' fries. The fries are spicy, crispy and come with a lovely hot dip. Great for sharing. The burger was good and flavourful, good portions. My friend ordered drinks and wasn't sure what to order. The bar tender was brilliant, and was quickly able to pinpoint what she may like and poured generous tasters for her to try. Friendly regulars too, who made her feel at ease in an unfamiliar environment.Although on the level, accessibility for wheelchairs could be a problem, and the doorway could be a little tricky to navigate, especially when it's busy. I wouldn't recommend it for wheelchair users. This is mainly due to the age of the premises and the probable difficulty of upgrading the place to accommodate those with limited mobility.Phoenix is a fantastic pub though! It was a regular haunt of mine when I went to college and art school in Dundee. There are lots of interesting paintings and drawings on the walls which tells of its link to the university and college.I was pleased to experience that 'The Phoenix' still maintains excellent standards and the locals are as friendly as ever.

We visited Dundee and was recommended to visit the Phoenix. The food was fantastic, along with the atmosphere, and the staff are really helpful and friendly. It’s a great traditional type bar which serves a great selection of beer and the food menu was really reasonable.I rarely write reviews but this place is a gem!!

Lovely local bar! Friendly and unique.

We were in on Sunday 25th October for lunch with my sons and enjoyed lunch and a few beers. The staff are so friendly and clearly enjoy their jobs. Love the atmosphere in a proper Scottish pub.

This place was busy and lively and that's an usual thing to see on a Friday night in Scotland these days. Despite being busy, the wait time was never too long in our experience.Prices were reasonable and there was a good selection of drinks. The age range seemed to be upwards of 30 and it's a historic pub in itself but it did not feel like an old man's pub...although the 3 of us that went are around 50 so it probably did once we were in! 😁

Now I visit The Phoenix Bar on almost every occasion I return to Dundee. Yesterday I went with my lass for lunch. In almost thirty-five years the menu has stayed consistent with specials of the day supplementing the favourites. The service from behind the bar is brilliant and the food is the best. The chilli burger, as ever, was phenomenal. The ambiance is great as are the prices. This is one part of Dundee that should be listed. Enjoy.
