Thought I would try Ship Inn for lunch .Steak pie was home made ,served with fresh carrot and turnip and peas .Frozen chips were cooked crispy so we're good .Partner had what were described as Crab Cakes. Ingredients like crab ,mustard coriander were listed on Menu so we assumed they were home made .Sadly no they were all uniform in size and Frozen .They were terrible ,no taste at all Served with salad but it was lettuce and green stuff out of a bag ,no tomato just a few brick hard match stick of carrots ,no dressing so bone dry .Served with lemon wedge .Was supposed to be chilli sauce it was dreadful ,no taste at all and watery .Total disappointment .Steak Pie was £12.99 and worth it .Crab cakes were inedible and £6.99 .Waste of money .Ice cream for after was supposed to be served with round shortbread biscuits but was served with cheap shortbread finger .Coffee was nice with the missing shortbread round on plate ,nice touch .All in roughly £40 but would not rush back .Why have chef when buying in frozen ,it's madness ..

Nice food and great service. Meals are huge though so you won't need a starter. Interesting menu.

We used to come here for a meal quite often when we lived in the Ferry many moons ago. Feeling nostalgic we thought we'd give it another go, especially as it was nice and sunny here. Unfortunately by the time we got down there, it had clouded up, but it was still really nice sitting upstairs with a view over the Tay.The food was really good and very big portions. I was a bit disappointed in the crab cakes, as I couldn't really taste or see any white crab and only could taste the dark crab, which I don't really like. I though it also a bit lazy that the chef didn't make the dip; just boring, bog-standard sweet chili dip from a jar. My husband had the Cullen Skink, and it was a very generous bowl and he liked it a lot. For mains I had the mussels, which was a starter, but again the portions were so big, it was more than enough. And my husband got the fried seafood basket, again huge portions. I've never seen him leave the majority of his chips on the plate before!Overall, really nice food and good service, but the bread which came with the soup and mussels was a real disappointment. 2 slices of cheap brown bread. I don't expect them to bake their own, but I'm sure there are bakeries in the Ferry or Dundee who could do much, much better.

The food is amazing and not super expensive like you would expect. Lovely classic decor and clean!!!! The staff are friendly even when they're run off their feet, you can tell all the ladies that work there could run circles round most. Lovely pub. Good whiskey selection too.

Beautiful meal with fantastic views but completely ruined by a table of around 14 people who did not consider other diners. One young lady in particular cackled her way through the evening setting everyone's nerves on edge.Waitress explained to us that nothing could be done but perhaps a quiet word would have been enough for the young lady in question to consider other people who were dining
