We were looking for a dog-friendly place to have lunch and Tinsmith did not disappoint. There was a match on and students in so it was a bit noisy and the dog hid under our table. The staff brought a bowl of water for him and made sure he was ok. Tbh - it's not often you see a great dane trying to hide under a booth-style table with 4 people sitting around it!!The food was good and the service excellent. 4 stars because it was noisy, otherwise we were very happy.

Had nice food here ,chilli beef nachos were great .Pulled pork was good too .Lovely place ,just 2 girls serving and they were running about all over the place serving food a drinks .They were trying their best but not fair on them being short staffed .Queues at bar to pay ,queues to order drinks at bar .Needs Management to sort this place out .It was taken over I believe so won't keep people coming back if service is not good .Staff were lovely but they were unable to cope with all the customers on a Friday Night .

Food was beautiful, quick and well priced.

Bright and modern with comfy sofas. Popular with students. Cocktails were OK for the price but not as good as more expensive places in town. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Lovely cocktails and cute pub. Would have loved to see more local offerings on tap.

Great place to pop in and have a G&T or a pint. Staff is friendly. The Bangers and Mash are rated top ten in Scotland -not sure how accurate this is. We all had the bangers and mash and although it is good don't see how it could crack the top ten.

It was alright. A nice place to hang before heading out for the main "event". On a Saturday evening, which was when I was there, it was loud. Ladies loud and excited for some reason. If you don't mind the noise, It's a good place to have a few drinks.

Stopped by for a spot of lunch during Dundee Literary Festival.Good ambience, friendly attentive staff, varied menu.We both chose the pie deal, which offers a choice of pie from a selection of 6 or 7, a potato side (creamy mash, chunky chips, or sweet potato fries) and a veg option (mushy peas, fried onions & gravy, mixed veg) all for the princely sum of £6.95!Selecting the beef chilli & cheese option, I opted for the sweet potato fries and onions.Served in a retro enamel ashet, the pie itself was packed full of tasty chilli mince whilst the pastry was firm and buttery tasting; also, No matter how many fries I ate, the pike in the dish didn't seem to lessen any....My daughter plumped for the Carribbean Chicken Curry pie, this time with chunky chips (and boy, are they chunky!) and also the onions. Her pie filling was a little drier than expected, but this was because (unlike a lot of other pies) there was a lot of nicely spiced chicken & veg packed in, rather than lots of sauce containing a few chunks!!Would definitely recommend, and we are planning on returning soon (i mean, we HAVE to work our way through the other pie combinations!)
