Anster Cheese farm and restaurant in Fife

Visited frequently, never been disappointed, interesting menu, tried most items, fresh healthy food, friendly staff with lovely smiles, a most welcoming establishment....... Great place to take visitors, Fife at its best..

Lovely place to have a late breakfast or an early lunch 👍😁. Very down to earth and welcoming, the gift shop has some nice surprises you don't find anywhere else and the food is delicious! We had a soup of the day (lentil, vegetables and bacon) with a cheese scone and a cheese plate for finish's. We tried Anster, Bonnet and St. Andrews Farmhouse and they all were really tasty. The staff is very friendly and when the room is full it might take a while before you get served, but keep in mind this is a family business. But still, this causes the 4 star rating as one can feel a bit neglected.Give it a try, the cheese is worth it 😄.

Either need more staff or to rejig their service all together.Food really wasn’t up to much for the price, waited 40 minutes for a few sandwiches and they forgot our drinks.Two of our sandwiches went uneaten but the server didn’t even notice/ask, in fairness our table wasn’t cleared or checked on so that’s not surprising.We then waited 10 minutes to pay (there wasn’t a queue- just slow!) whilst they cross checked the menu with the till as they added up our food. 😫It wouldn’t take much to improve this place, but judging by the reviews over the past year it hasn’t changed much.If you’re stuck for a place to go, aren’t bothered about the standard, how long you wait and how much you pay- this place is great. Otherwise I’d go to the co-op and buy a sandwich to takeaway and enjoy the view outside.Disappointing

Visited here today. They shld rename this Faulty Towers. I expected Basil to come out through swinging doors. Staff running around with red faces. So disorganised. Had to wait ages and all I wanted was coffee and a cake. Food did look good but on cutting my cake I found a hair in it. I took it up to counter after being ignored i actually had to stop waitress and tell her. She saw hair took plate from me and went thru to kitchen. When she came back she didnt even apologise even when I went to pay nothing. Very bad.

Great good food sourced locally. Clean premises and friendly staff. What's not to like?

We love this place! We've visited many times and tried most of the dishes on the menu. Our favorites are the poached egg and avocado on a cheese scone and the cheese platter, that we have been using to work our way through their cheese selection. We're big eaters but the two of us usually share this, occasionally adding an extra cheese scone, and we're never left hungry (which is a shame because the cakes are awesome too). With friendly staff and a great setting, the cheese farm gets 5 stars from us.

First visit. Rather busy entrance with people buying cheese, paying for meals and waiting to be seated all in a very small area. No-one came to seat us so we just went to find a table. So many were still littered with dirty dishes that was difficult and did not give a good impression. Our order was taken after other people who arrived after us. After a nearly 30 minute wait for coffee and cake we asked where it was. At the desk there was confusion with order slips being shuffled around. The table servers were also serving cheese. No one seemed to have their own job which I think caused confusion. Staff could have been friendlier.It was not a pleasant experience and we won’t go back.

Very dissapointing. Nothing really to see. Wanted to be seated even though mostly empty. Small selection of cheese on display, no prices. 4tasting bowls on counter were covered with clingfilm but had to use fingers. Cafe nothing special and over priced. Gift section well over priced. Staff not happy. Wasted time. No cheeseboard on the menu. Could be a good idea to try the cheese you want to taste properly. - a missed opportunity.

I found the staff at the coffee shop to be very helpful. The Anster and Red Anster cheese are both excellent. We visited on a Monday when by chance they were making cheese which can be viewed in the gallery.Well worth a visit, friendly staff and reasonably priced. The cheese on selection are the stars here.

Not bad, but really not great.It's worth going if you want to buy some cheese, or see some being made, but I really can't recommend this place for lunch. The food simply isn't good enough for the price.What really annoyed me was the 'cheese platter', which gets you 3 pieces of cheese for the best part of £7, with a tiny pot of chutney and some oatcakes. You really don't get much cheese considering the price, and although it's listed as a 'main meal' you'll want another course afterwards. The cheese is nice, as is the chutney, but it's a lot of money.This is a place that specialises in cheese. The worst thing on the menu is the cheese platter. The irony is not lost on you, I'm sure.On a positive note, while the main meals are a little pricey for their small portions, the puddings are are small but a fair price, rarely going over the £3 mark.Also, it's in a nice setting, if you sit outside you can look out over the sea. Sitting outside isn't a thing that happens most of the year round in this part of the world, so you may wish to settle for a window.If it's the only thing around, by all means go for it, otherwise I'd spend a little more time/money and look for somewhere else.
