Cycle Tavern in Fife

We stopped by in 2019. Six drunken yobs sitting at the bar were making not-so-sly rude remarks about us since we were obviously American (i.e., bathed, groomed, well spoken, polite). This seemed to ignite some sort of spiteful joy. The premises were grubby. Over the years I’ve seen my share of dives, but this place reeked of dead-end lives and hostility. I felt bad for the barflies. We still laugh about the hideousness of the place. So local. So “authentic.” Went to lots pubs in Scotland but never experienced the instant weird rancor that The Cycle Tavern greeted us with.

Dropped by on a quiet afternoon and we know nothing about the area..driving all day and needed a rest. The bartender was a delight. Then a few locals straggled in. Our accents didn't match up with theirs so obviously we were not neighbors... nonetheless everyone in their started sharing stories of the area, made us laugh and feel so welcome. Wish we could find a pub like this in the States. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.

Fab old pub in historical Auchtermuchty. Great service, good pub grub, very generous portions. Kid friendly. Food served friday, Saturday and Sundays only.

Great little pub! Friendly, helpful staff. Had lunch in the bar, with the dog. Good "pub grub" steak pie was lovely. Nice and bright and clean. Toilets clean as well with soap and hot water. Will be back.

Friendly staff, excellent pub food and beer. Good prices and atmosphere. Cycle Tavern open under new management. No food at this time as kitchen being totally renewed. Alcohol can be purchased by card, if you have left your wallet at home lol.

Very good although, as so many in the group had ordered fish it was just a bit slow to arrive. The fish was excellent and I will have that again. Drinks service very good.

Meal was'nt what we expected ...frozen fish and nothing for my friend who was gluten free...she got a bowl of lettuce with 3 small pieces of ham on top. Other 3 was okay but none of us will be back

Went for a bar lunch with a couple of friends. Steak pie was amazing, quick and friendly service. Would definitely recommend and I will be back very soon.

Brilliant friendly pub with good atmosphere. Staff are great, food is excellent. Friendly and staff and regulars are great with kids too. Would recommend to anybody.
