"A family run business owned by award winning David Stein Butchers of Bathgate and big sister to the popular 1912, 1807 and 1884 across the water in West Lothian 1703 takes its name from the year this wonderful building was constructed. 1703 is the ideal place for that mid-morning coffee, a leisurely lunch or that late night cocktail. Cafebar 1703 is not a restaurant and its not a pub – we are that dine or don’t type of place we love when we just want to relax and enjoy ourselves."

Been a few times over the years, food was excellent as it normally is.Service let the experience down this time hence 4/5..We we're rushed through our meal and staff couldn't wait to get rid of us. Felt rushed off into food choices and staff asked countless times about everything from ready to order to can i take your plate. There actual service aside from this was good tho.

Went just for a meal. Food was average I would compare to a Weatherspoon's quality. Some definitely came out of a microwave. Fills you up but nothing special and not sure I'd be back. Had to raise a few concerns with the staff so we got free deserts. Servers were friendly and prompt with the service.

Interesting conversion, cool vibe. Menu is fairly small, and I'd say the food is just above average. Go for the atmosphere, I think.

Didn’t know they did breakfast here, also didn’t know they had rooms to rent. We have family coming up from down south and knowing this is great. We ordered breakfasts and took in our surroundings. I thought maybe it could have a smell of booze, but it didn’t, it had a clean smell. The reason I thought that was because it is a bar in the evenings. There was plenty of room, so if you have a disability you will have no problems getting in and around the tables. The food arrived, and the first thing we both said was how hot the food was. We also got free tea and coffee with out breakfast, so we had quite a few brews 😉.The service was pleasant and attentive. I did say that it took a while for the food to arrive at the table, but I will counter that with this. The food was cooked from fresh and that’s why it took a little bit longer. It could have been faster, but it would have been stacked in pans and not freshly cooked.Would we come here again?Yes we would, it was very nice and we enjoyed it

Absolutely lovely steak with a superb beetroot salad. Loved it. Great atmosphere however piped music was a bit loud.

1703 was very quiet when we visited but staff were cordial considering we arrived mid afternoon. Unfortunately they sat us at a table right next to a door which had a very cold breeze blowing through it when staff went through. We were surrounded by empty tables and booths. Food was average but that could of been because we were between services. As it was quiet, it still took a wee while for food to arrive at table. Our server was chatty though and drinks were served quickly. Possibly, as it was very quiet, we might of had a different experience if it had been busier.

Nice place. We went to see, live, ABBA tribute band who were pretty good. Drank a fair red wine at a reasonable price. Didn't eat here but looked at the menu, seemed fair.

Stayed here for two nights, the staff are great, the food is fantastic and the chefs are amazing.Great vegetarian options too.Live music, and pool tables for a great night all in the same building.Would definitely come back, highly recommended.

Love this place. This is my second time visiting. The staff are amazing very attentive and welcoming. The drinks list is extensive and the bar staff make you anything you ask for. The food is delicious and fresh. The rooms are nice, clean and well equipped. The one thing I wasn't pleased with was the bedroom window didn't open and the air conditioning system had to be on the whole night. I will definitely be back.
