We visited for a meal for the first time in ages with a big party. The food was tremendous, clean plates all round and we had a lot of varied dishes. The kids all loved their food too which is always a big plus. The staff were all really friendly and as a whole the evening was pleasant .some feed back though..there were a couple of things that ruined it a little for us, drinks missing from orders, as well as orders of drinks not arriving and needing to be re ordered and all the food arrived but nobody had cutlery. Both things were eventually seen to and as I say everyone was very nice. Would visit again and still recommend.

Lovely venue with friendly staff, however the lunch options we had needed some TLC. Nachos was very average- not constructed well, was super dry and was almost entirely made of a blanket of cheese stuck to the plate.Lasagna was tasty but swimming on oil. Other lunches where good and breakfast has been alright, but generally inconsistent.

We booked lunch in Weavers Restaurant and found the staff friendly and helpful . The menu looked really good and we took the Beef olives and potatoes which was fine and the Liver ,Bacon and chips which got a big thumbs down my partner the liver had an bitter flavour and was left . The management apologised and knocked it off our bill ,it may be a while till we are back

Nice hotel, spotlessly clean. Room very basic but got everything you need. Few minor issues but quickly resolved. Lost a star for the silly things like not topping up tea, coffee milk and the worst toilet paper I've used in years.

It was good, very clean . We weren't really comfortable with the seating ( we didn't book ) we felt like we were seated in the back of the bar. Very small table and very upright seats ( more akin for eating ) just didn't lead itself to a leisurely couple of drinks.Visited the City Hotel again for drinks pre a meal elsewhere, we had better seating this time ( it's just your luck ), it was table service only, a little slow but not unforgivable. Lovely surroundings, descent pricing and attentive staff.

Room had saniflow toilet which made a horrendous noise when flushed. No information in room regarding breakfast or checkout times. Went down for breakfast 10 past 9 to be told it finished at 9 and they would have to ask the chef if he would cook it. He agreed but told we would have to have full English, no choices, fruit juice etc. While we were eating customers came in to buy breakfast. On checkout we waited for reception to serve another customer but when he went off to show them a room without a word to us we left.

Hotel clean friendly staff lovely food. Just one major complaint. Our room was above kitchen. Sleep broken from 11pm & 01.30am.Staff working night-shift. In & out talking, laughing constantly throwingbottles & rubbish in the bins directly below our window. This in my mind is a fail against a very good hotel. I would still use this hotel but make sure I don't get that very noisy room.

Nice room, smaller in real life. Biggest problem was the loud music that was audible throughout the hotel 9pm-midnight. Could also hear glass smashing. No mention of loud music when booking. This should be emphasised more so people can make an informed decision.

Asked between the steak pie or roast beef and wait staff chose steak and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT! So delicious and filling! So happy that the curators at the Carnegie Birth Museum recommended this to me, best meal I've had since being in Scotland!

Family meal. Sunday roast beef was lovely but disappointed with Yorkshire pudding would havePreferred home cooked rather than shop bought but was tasty. Sticky toffee pudding was delicious. Staff were brilliant but run off there feet, pretty busy. Looking forward to coming for Christmas Dinner.
