The Dreel Tavern in Fife

First time at Dreel even though I'm fairly local! Food is incredible, service is fab. Can't fault the experience! Very relaxed environment but high end gastro pub food, local ingredients and specials were very different! Won't hesitate to come back again or recommend!

The food was really tasty but!!We had a seabass which came with a small amount of mash potato.We also had a cauliflower steak.The cauliflower steak was one 2cm slice of cauliflower. The cost to buy a cauliflower is about 79pThe cost of a seabass fillet is about £6The cost of each meal was about £16/17This was really not value for money.The cauliflower steak was equivalent to a starter which still wouldn't have been worth £6The justification for the price was that you could only get one steak out of the cauliflower..😐 ok, but surely things like cauliflower rice, cauliflower soup, cauliflower cheese etc. Etc. Etc could have all also have been produced??I definitely wouldn't recommend simply based on value for money. A greedy profit for the dreel

Really disappointing on this occasion. We have had really good food here before, but of late have found the quality way below the standard we had come to expect.The vegetarian Sunday roast would have been sent back had it not been for the fact that we had already waited a very long time for it with a young child in tow. Compared to the meat option, which came with two large slices of roast, the veggie option came with a small and very sorry looking, heavily caramelised and over-seasoned slice of cauliflower and a vegetarian gravy that seemed to consist only of red wine and garlic. Both dishes had very dry roast potatoes.

Quick stop today for the soup of the day - carrot, parsnip, thyme. INCREDIBLE!!! Might be one of the most comforting and unexpectedly delicious meals I've had. And the salt and pepper on the butter for the accompanying bread was INSANE! So if you are ever in Anstruther, I'd recommend stopping in to see what's on the menu, enjoy the fire, the lovely service and the atmosphere.

A brilliant pub with a roaring fire and absolutely fantastic food. Highly recommended as we visited twice during our 3 days in Anstruther

Had a lovely lunch after walking from St Monans. Our dog was greeted with a fresh bowl of water and biscuits. Excellent Cullen skink and delicious blue cheese and onion tart. Highly recommended.

Visited Aug 2021 with friends for a wedding anniversary meal for my wife and I. Fantastic old pub in a good location and the food was excellent. Highly recommend!!

How a restaurant experience should be - we had a phenomenal night!Because of the current situation, we were sitting outside in one of the specially made booths which was really cozy and a pleasant place to be. The food was amazing (don't leave unless you've tried the steak loaded fries with the seafood platter) and the hot spiced gin will change your life for the better.You'll also know you're in for a good night if Fraser is serving - that guy needs an award for being so on it!Further big nods of appreciation for correspondence before & after (yep we cheekily asked for the spiced gin recipe and it appeared in my inbox later that night!) and they also recommended taxi companies to take us along from St Monans where we were staying. Being dog friendly was also an essential and he was made to feel totally welcome.So all in all, a truly superb experience which we can't rate highly enough. A massive thanks to Alli and Fraser for such a good night and we'll definitely be back as soon as we can!

Dropped in on the off chance for Sunday lunch. We were made very welcome along with the dog. We had the roast which was lovely with a nice selection of well cooked vegetables. Decent beer on tap too. We finished with a coffee, which was served hot (always a bonus) and was a really tasty and easily better than what you get from the large chains.

Really nice place. Had my lunch here. A soup and a sandwich and my fave, sticky pudding. All great. I've asked for still water and they brought a bottle with cucumbers which was lovely. Had to pay for my lunch 13.30£, had a coffee also and had the water for free. Next time I'll try the halloumi dish as wasn't available.
