Older hotel which could do with a bit of TLC. This was our 2nd stay so realised what the hotel was all about before arriving for our wee break. Hotel is very fairly priced and I would suggest you get what you are paying for and this is not meant as a slant on the hotel. Dinner and breakfast was good, dinner very good and reasonably priced. Lady dealing with breakfast lovely, manager of hotel never went out to greet you in the passing which in the hospitality game is disappointing.Would we stay again ? Yes, for an affordable break with good food we would, it's not the Ritz but I never paid for the Ritz.

We have taken advantage of the Inn at Charlestown's "heat at home" meal nights during lockdown. The food has been flawless and we are looking forward to the restaurant opening fully.

I booked an overnight with my son who lives in Australia. The overnight was yesterday. My dog was included in this overnight. We had the most delightful time. Breakfast was just right for me and my son, Dinner was basic however we enjoyed it. This in my opinion was excellent value for money. I have been to many hotels in my life I would say this was the best regarding staff and views were fantastic.I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who would like to get away from it all and relax and enjoy.

We booked the private room for my mum’s 70th birthday and had an amazing time. Facilities are perfect for a gathering with mixed ages catered for, outside space is by far the best I’ve seen for kids meaning everyone could relax. Staff were lovely and really couldn’t have done more, thanks again 👌

Disappointed with food. The self service salad choice was all either tinned or jars. Salad leaves were wilted not appealing at all. Bar prices were expensive. The staff were lovely however and very helpful. Sorry but won't be back.

Stayed here with my child. The owner was incredibly rude from the start. I called 2 times prior to arriving (and before booking) to discuss dietary requirements which we were told was no problem. On arrival i mentioned to the lady on reception that i can pick up supplies from the shop if necessary. She said no. We went for dinner and the owner began shouting at my 5 year old child telling her to stop being ridiculous about her food needs. It was awful. She was served dry potato with sweetcorn. For breakfast we were given toast with blue/green mould on it. On checking out, the owner argued that we owed money for juice which was not true. Instead of acknowledging his mistake, he said he would let me off with it this time. How embarrassing! The whole experience was terrible. Cannot recommend at all.

We found this by chance. It is a hidden gem. Had a lovely meal. They offer a separate salad bar, well set out and lots of choice. Friendly waiter. Bottle of chilled water provided without having to be asked for. Very reasonably priced. Noticed that they offered a gluten free pud. Great view over the River Forth. Definitely recommend this place.

Old style hotel but comfortable. Very dated rooms and bathrooms but adequate, good showers and comfy beds. Dinner was bland but all service from arrival to checkout was efficient and friendly. Our breakfast was very good. I would return if in the area.

Staff are brilliant, friendly and helpful. Views and surroundings are beautiful. The rooms are slightly dated, but clean, comfortable and the shower was nice and powerful. Would definitely return and recommend. Thank you for a lovely stay
