THE BEST FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD!I went with two other people and we all agreed that the food was ridiculously good. I'm lucky enough to have been to one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants, and The Vine Leaf was better than that!Good service, very nice servers. I highly recommend the three prawn dish! The food here is so good that it makes you question your daily food choices... Everything you've ever had will taste bland in comparison!

Over priced and completely unaware of it's own identity. Menu too big and the execution is amateur at best. Most of the food was bland and the Game platter was overcooked to the point of being ridiculous. The welcome was nice, but then we waited nearly 50 minutes between courses which is not good. For nearly £180 we could've eaten a much nicer meal in a much nicer place. Won't be coming back and won't be recommending it to anyone else.

First time at The Vine Leaf. ST. Andrews and we will definitely be back. We were welcomed and shown to the table and given menus. Got our drinks and ordered. I had the Greek lamb and my husband had the Game trio. The food was amazing! Well presented and the vegetables were served separately which I think is a good idea as you can decide how much or how little you want. The dessert menu was very good and my husband had the baked Alaska which he said was great! I could only manage a coffee. All in all a very good meal and great service!

Excellent food and service. Extensive menu guaranteed to have something for everyone. Fillet steak was first class as was the lemon sole according to my better half. Highly recommended but you need to book well in advance.

Whenever we are in St Andrew's we make a bee line for the Vine Leaf. Highest quality cuisine using local produce at a reasonable price. Good choice of dishes for all tastes. Ian is a good host with a great knowledge of wine to serve with the menu. Morag produces the finest quality dishes. No visit to St Andrew's is complete without a meal at the Vine Leaf.

Thoughtful, diverse menu with many local touches; excellent wine and cocktail offerings, fairly priced; cordial, friendly and deft table service. All in all, a hidden gem that could hold its own against any of the trendy au courant dining spots in Edinburgh or Glasgow.

Menu had so much to choose from. I'd like to try everything. The fig starter was amazing.

We have been enjoying the food and atmosphere that Ian and Morag are masters at for 30 years. We first went in 1988 when they were a fledgling business which has gone from strength to strength. The food is always amazing from start to finish with flavour bursting from every mouthful. Great atmosphere, Ian is always very welcoming. We love it as our go to place every year, for birthdays, anniversaries or just because days. If you love good food and not been to the Vine Leaf you are seriously missing a food heaven experience.

Friendly staff and pleasant ambience, but the food was very disappointing. I had the crab starter which was overwhelmed by cheddar and mustard, followed by the 'pan fried lemon sole'. I had anticipated this delicious, succulent fish dusted lightly in flour and then fried gently and briefly in butter, but the sole had a heavy coating of something and had been fried for too long, as a result of which it was tasteless and rubbery. Very disappointing. Experience perhaps best described as rather 'Come Dine with Me'- ish.

Top Secret! Most wonderful place, the food and service are fabulous. Was delighted to bring a group of well travelled foodies to eat there recently and they were delighted with the whole experience. It is amazing value with a large selection to chose from. Would recommend the place without hesitation. You need to book in order not to be disappointed, it may take some finding as it is up a wee lane off South Street, but really worth the effort.
