Balgedie Toll Tavern in Perth & Kinross
Where is Balgedie Toll Tavern?
🏠 Wester Balgedie, Kinross KY13 9HE
"The Balgedie Toll Tavern is a welcoming and comfortable family run tavern which, like many others built at the time in Scotland, was situated at a road toll where travellers would break their journey and pay tolls before travelling on (the Tolls were abolished in 1872). Now much extended, the oldest part of the building (the toll house) is at the southern end. It has two restaurant seating areas, one upstairs and one downstairs in the main bar plus a small snug bar where well behaved dogs are welcomed (booking advised). The interior is traditional with low ceilings, oak beams, stone walls and open fire places. An extensive choice of meals and bar snacks are available 5 days per week, freshly prepared to order."

Lovely lady took our order, couldn't be more helpful if she tried. Menu is amazing definitely for the foodies among us but the pea pesto with the fish was so good would definitely come back again.

Such a lovely wee place. So cosey and quaint. Lit fire, lovely food. We had the fish and chips and the smokey balgedie. A.mazing.The owner is a great character, the whole visit topped off by Neil's hilarious personality. Knows a handsome chap when he sees one! Would honestly drive back up from edinburgh just to visit the tavern alone.

Excellent food & well presented. A Google search for local food highlighted this place so that's where we went. The staff were great and were all very friendly, the prices were reasonable too.

Food was fantastic, bar and restaurant have a lovely feel, and the building itself is old and very interesting. Friendly staff. Great experience all round.

Very nice food, couldn't fault any of the dishes served to us, this place has a nice cosy atmosphere. It does get busy so better to book ahead if in a large group. The servers were polite, prompt and well presented. Toilets were clean and warm. The only down side, no tablet with your coffee any more.

Thank you for a wonderful lunch. We stopped in to see if we could by chance get a table and we were lucky that there was space, but also thank you for moving some tables and chairs around to make it happen. Thank you for that. The menu is fab. It accommodates all types of dietary needs. As a GF person, it was so nice to not feel like I was an extra burden and amazing to see all of the options on the menu. We will def be back, and we will remember to book a table because the food and service is so good that I think we just got lucky today.

What a find! A lovely characterful pub restaurant. Cosy, very friendly helpful staff and an excellent food menu. Don't usually have 3 courses but the offering was so good we just had to! Highly recommended.
