Stayed here for 2 nights with an itison voucher (beware at the time of booking it was cheaper to book direct than use itison!).We had a very outdated room, it was room 22 in the main house. It is in desperate need of repair and refurbishment. The hotel states it’s dog friendly but dogs are not allowed in the bar after 6pm and so you have to sit in the hall or landing upstairs which is not comfortable or relaxing at all.We called ahead to make sure we could eat with our dog (he’s a puppy) and had a table under the stairs which was actually quite nice and meant we still got to eat the nice food. We chose to sit there after dinner as it was more comfortable than any of the other options. The staff were friendly and the dinner was excellent. If I reviewed the food separately it would have got 5/5.Ate at a local pub in Meikleour on our second night which was much more accommodating to dogs.

Afternoon tea today was wonderful. Two courses of 3 tier cake stand. First was savoury second was sweet washed down with lovely Punjabi tea made specially for the hotel.

Just home from a fabulous night at Ballathie house. Such a stunning location, we had a nice big room, with a view over the river and so relaxing. Dinner was excellent, nice wine in the bar served by Michael, who along with the rest of the staff cannot do enough for you.A full Scottish breakfast to send us on our way. We will be back.

Fantastic afternoon tea and stay over in one of the Riverside rooms. Only gave it 4 stars as main house could do with some TLC decor wise, but this did not spoil my stay

Oh my goodness. My niece just had her wedding here at the weekend it's seriously been the best hotel stay ever. Everything from the greeting when we arrived, the rooms themselves, and I don't know where to begin about the food. You can tell that this is a team that works really well together and boy oh boy they are fantastic at what they they do.The staff member I had the most interactions with was a man called Jelal ( I think that's how you spell his name!) and his attention to detail was phenomenal. My nieces wedding day could not have gone better.Very safe environment to be in given hospitality has had a tough time over the last year. I really appreciated that they heating was turned up high, but with windows open in every room. Very clever.I can't wait to get back to be honest. I had never heard of the venue until the niece and nephew booked it, and I can see why.Spectacular.The wedding meal was the best one I have every had, and I have so much respect for the chefs getting all that beautiful food out to 75 plus guests, all hot and on hot plates too. The breakfast was out of this world too. This hotel is classed as 4 star, but the service and quality of the menu is better than most 5 star hotels I have experienced.

Beautiful hotel and restaurant in an even more beautiful setting. Staff were excellent - attentive without being intrusive, accommodating, helpful, and friendly. I was here for a private function and the food was excellent, especially the cheese board. When my taxi was early they happily provided the driver with a coffee while he waited. Even better - they're dog friendly. Will be coming back to stay in the hotel as I can't imagine a more perfect, quiet spot to see the best of Scotland's countryside

Helpful and efficient check in. Beautiful old building set in amazing, well-tended but thankfully not over manicured grounds in wonderfully quiet, riverside location. Bedroom with excellent heating system that is easily adjusted and proper, opening windows! Very helpful staff at breakfast with our vegan options and friendly, professional checking out.

The surrounding scenery of this Hotel was absolutely beautiful. The main entrance is as a small castle blended in natural nature. Some of the rooms have direct access to the local river.Although being a 4 star hotel, the services were way higher than that. We had guest's from America and out of all the hotels we stayed for our 10 days trip. This was the absolute favourite one.

The hotel and rooms are nice. The bathrooms are big. We appreciated the customer service which was good. Our issues were the large amount of wasps in our room. I believe there's a nest somewhere, and as it was a very warm humid night we had our window open. When it rained we had about 7 wasps enter the room and fly about.Within our group, all the other rooms also had wasps. There was no air-conditioning or fan in the rooms and we were very hot.The TV is not on the wall across from the bed, so you can't see it.There are very few plug sockets due to the older nature of the building.Their toiletries are amazing and the shower was excellent. The room was very clean and we felt very welcome.

Beautiful hotel in an idyllic setting. The riverside suite was very comfortable and clean, with excellent facilities.Food in the hotel was superb, the 5 course evening meal was Michelin star quality. The Staff are very polite, attentive and helpful. We had a fantastic stay and will definitely return.
