The staff were warm, friendly and helpful with the wine selection. We had the scallops and a medely of bread, tzatziki and olives for our starters. The scallops were cooked well and served with a delicious lemon + honey sauce and a lovely cauliflower puree. The tzatziki was thick creamy and well seasoned. For main we had pan seared duck and the gnocchi.Note: We were informed our mains would be 7mins longer than expected (the service was very fast). This was due to the duck being over cooked and a new one had to be cooked. This transparency/communication of the staff was much appreciated and it appears to show a standard the kitchen staff apply to themselves. The duck was perfectly cooked when it came and the jus was full flavoured and light. The gnocchi was fresh with a lovely chew and a deep tomato flavoured sauce. The only negative worth mentioning was that the table salt and paper were in sachets, I'd rather salt and paper in mills. But this is in no way a deal breaker. In the end we would both highly recommended the Fern cottage restaurant.

The most delicious meal I’ve ever had. Small and cosy with small but great menu. I had the duck and honestly, never had better duck in my life. Will be a must try for anyone visiting the Pitlochry area!

Had an amazing meal for daughters belated birthday. Three and a half courses of absolute bliss. Will definitely be back soon, our server Arthur is a master at his trade.

I was recommended to go to the Fern Cottage Restaurant and I am grateful that I was.The appetizer of scallops on baby blood puddings was amazing -- not a combination that I ever thought would work. My husband and I shared two mains -- the medallions of venison and the duck breast. Both were very different, but equally as yummy. We didn't have a dessert, but I did have a lovely wine that I wish I remembered the name of. It paired equally well with the venison and the duck. The service was unobtrusive and helpful. I wish I lived nearby so I could go back again and again to see what other recipes they come up with.

It qas cold and snowing but we received a warm welcome and had an amazing evening.Venison and steak were cooked to perfection and accompaniments were delicious. We finished with perfect light sweets. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and added to our lovely evening.I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit.

The food was nice and the personnel very kind and professional. In Pitlochry is surely one of the best restaurants.

We had a very nice lunch here. We were the only people in the restaurant but the waiter was very friendly as well as efficient. Our fish and chips and burgers were delicious and the little bottle to spray lemon juice on the fish is a stroke of genius.

A small restaurant which gave the impression of being in a village hall - one open room with formally arranged tables, so certainly not a place for a romantic meal out or a family celebration with children. A strange ambience. Unfortunately we booked late following a long drive so were given a small single table for two in the oddest of places - in a corridor between the serving hatch and the ladies toilet. We were completely separated from the room where the rest of the diners were eating by a wall of wood panelling. On asking to move the only table we could have was one with an hour's limit as it was booked for later. Shame. So my advice is to book well in advance and request the main room.Having said all that, although the food was not Michelin Star quality, nor did it claim to be, it was excellent. Extremely well presented. perfectly cooked and tasting delicious. Portions were very large so we were relieved that we had shared a starter which was plenty for two. I had intended to order the home made rice pudding for dessert but having eaten the whole of my main had to settle for ice cream. This too was special, a delicious mix of rich coconut and vanilla. The wine list was extensive, though I thought very overpriced. It also has a gin menu.Staff were very efficient and professional. The restaurant has no parking so it is a matter of finding a spot on the main street and walking down. It is accessible for a wheelchair. In all a strange mix of an evening.

Booked table at lunchtime for dinner later same day. Food very good, lamp shanks, and cheesecake. Reasonably priced for the good quality of food. Any to get to in middle of Pitlochry.
