The food ! its been such a long time since i had a meal come out that you could tell was all made from scratch and so fresh it was roasting hot on the plate! The balmoral chicken - which has always been a favourite of mine and as such i have experienced it from many places - was probably the best ive had; hearty portion of mash, fresh veg with the addition of corn on the cob - which was a nice change, and a massive chicken breast which was fall-apart levels of moist. The actual building and surroundings were picturesque too and the cleanliness level was great, especially the WC.The only thing i would say was a drawback was that the atmosphere was quiet and a little tense, especially for a Saturday evening. I could've done with the music a tad louder just to loosen things up.This wouldn't affect me coming back to eat again though - might go for the steak pie next!

Not open on a Monday or Tuesday but I was allowed to go in and use the toilet. Very kind man who answered the door and deserves recognition. Thanks.

Fabulous gem perfect for a break away or just for food. We stayed for 2 nights whilst visiting the Kinross area. The rooms are spacious, homely, well decorated with nice touches everywhere and extremely clean. Comfortable bed, loads of drawers and wardrobe space, large bathroom with both bath and shower and a spacious lounge/seating area. Actually couldn't find a fault. The hosts were very attentive, welcoming, efficient and friendly. This level of hospitality doesn't happen by chance, it's a well oiled machine providing a relaxing and value for money stay. Food was excellent, from the simpler home made soup to the tasty fillet rossini steak. Great home cooked tasty food. The breakfast didn't disappoint either; freshly prepared, good local produce which set up for the whole day. Dog friendly throughout. A really enjoyable stay

Good food, great service, some maybe a bit over zealous, enjoyed and will go back.

Great lunch. Chose the ploughman's but they had no ham so took £2 off each meal. Was lovely even without the ham.

Lovey place to stop for a drink and or a meal.We stopped here on our journey to Buckhaven and we were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant and staff. Our meals were very tasty just like great home cooking. We sat in the bar area for our meal but both the bar area and the restaurant are very comfortable with a lovely atmosphere. The reception area also has a lovely relaxing area with sofas etc.Free parking is easy on the opposite side of the road or disabled parking on the hotel side of the road.Staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Have revised this up. Was 3* for the road side table, where the local bus covers your food with a generous layer of road dust. But a definite 5* for the (indoor) restaurant with its amazing retro menu including a fantastic "specials" Chateaubriand. Great staff and service too.
