McKays Bar & Restaurant in Perth & Kinross

A real Scottish welcome. We called in on a Sunday evening. Seated a our family 5 quickly. Steak pie (tender steak and thick seasoned gravy) scampi and gammon and haddock and chips were all fresh and very tasty. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Roaring fire was lovely to sit next too. Dessert was a knockout. Apple cumble and sticky toffee pudding. Will be back.

We've eaten here twice, and the food was terrible both times. Our mushroom bruschetta tasted like canned mushrooms, the steak pie was incredibly over-salted, the vegetables tasted like they were frozen, and the chicken schnitzel was as basic as you can get, but for the price of a much nicer restaurant.Also, the Guinness tasted watered down??? I kept questioning myself but i passed it around the table, and everyone agreed that it was a shockingly thin pint.

Possibly the worst experience I've had in a bar! The staff were unfriendly. In fact that is an understatement! If they were the only choice of bar in town then they might get away with it but when there is so many other choices who offer superior service, I know where I'd be spending my money!

Came in for something to eat, was seated at 4.50pm and was told that we could have our table until 6.30pm which was fine by us. The staff member who seated us was unfriendly and not at all welcoming. 5.25pm and no one had come to take our order, its table service due to covid and considering we only had the table until 6.30pm we had to go searching for someone. We did eventually order and the food was nice. Needless to say that I would not rush back. The service was terrible and I felt the staff couldn't care less.

Lovely vibe of hotel! Amazing for the price. We went in January so was pretty quiet but i loved it! Went to the restaurant for dinner, amazing food. Fish and chips was honestly to die for! We will definitely come back with our dog next time.

Great place for an evening meal, or just a fantastic breakfast. Lovely traditional scottish dishes as well as other varieties. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff. Lovely and clean, comfy seating.

Nice decor, rooms and generally okay. Over loud weird mix of music in the dinning/bar, inattentive staff and to be honest the totally overpriced fish and chips was a big disappointment after the hype.... The place functioned as an overnight stop while heading north, but we wouldn't be in a rush to go back.

Had 7 people including 4 kids so there was a little bit of a wait for the food. Then the food came out- Totally worth the wait. Haddock & Chips, Steak Pie and Scampi were all wonderful. If you are going through and have the money for something a little nicer, this is your place.

We ate lunch and 2 dinners over our stay in Pitlochry and we were not disappoint with any of them, the fish n chips on a Friday night best I have ever had. Soup and sandwiches was amazing. Surf and turf on Saturday night was a taste bud party. There service was good a few times we had to ask for things and waited a while for the bill, but all in would highly recommend.

Some great food here. We had steak pies and Mac n cheese. Nice and clean too. Only criticism, if any, is that staff need to keep an eye on tables better as we had to wait a while to get another drink and to get the table cleared after finishing. When we managed to attract a staff member they were very polite and well presented.
