The Moulin Hotel in Perth & Kinross

Just passed through on a walk and stopped for a drink. Quick service and friendly staff. Beautiful building and location. Very relaxing. They also sell the craft beers for takeaway from the brewing room next door. A very pleasant experience

This is our experienceWe stayed at the Brauch Mahore guest house down the road from the hotel .We took a stroll up to the Moulin hotel looking for a drink and some food .I went to go and get a drink but it was table service only .We were told that there were no tables inside available at that time .I asked the waiter how long it would be before a table was ready.He said that he didn't know .So I asked him for a drink menu and went and sat outside to wait for said menu .After 10 mins nobody had come out to serve us so I went in to find someone I waitress came out and took our order .She came back out without the drinks ordered but said there was a table ready for us to sit down .So we went inside to a table with our drinks and a menu .We then waited 25mins for someone to take our food order,after asking someone if we could make a food order .While waiting for the food we tried to get someone's attention to get another drink .The food then came out about 20 min later so we asked that waiter for another round of drinks,which he brought out straight away .The burgers that we had were OK mine could have been cooked a little bit longer as it was a bit raw in the middle .I was fairly hungry by now so thought that if I had sent it back it might have taken too long to get it sorted. It did however not have the onoin rings that it said on the menu so I asked for these which eventually turned up on a plate when I had nearly finished. My partners burger didn't have any cheese in it but did have a gluten free bun so that was good .My partner had the chocolate fudge cake gluten free and said that it was nice .I had cheese and biscuits which was OK the grapes were not as fresh as the could have been .When I ordered the cheese and biscuits I asked the waitress if they came with enough biscuits to go with the cheese .I was told that if I wanted more I could have more if I paid for them £ 1.50 The cheese and biscuits cost £8.75 so a few extra biscuits would have been nice at no extra cost .So my take on the experience is that the kitchen seemed to be on the ball .The waiting staff need to be managed better as they did not seem to know what each other were doing .

Another wonderful stay at this hotel. Staff are fantastic, so friendly & attentive. Food is delicious. Ales are brewed next door and are definitely worth a try. Hope to be back soon.Keith & Susan.

Bit of a mixed bag. Stopped off here for lunch on a walk so can't comment on the hotel. We chose haggis, neeps and tatties. This was OK although the tatties were a bit lumpy but the sauce it came with was very unappealing. It looked like a pot of oil with some undefined white bits floating in it. The service was also quirky. Quite friendly but they tended to forget about you. So, they would give you a menu or the bill and never return. The instructions on a board outside were to wait for table service but both times we had to go in to the bar to get some attention. An exchange between a waiter and another customer gives a flavour. The waiter was asked what the soup of the day was. "I've no idea." Pause. "I suppose I could find out for you."The beer was good.

Went for a meal which was very good pub food.Arrived about 19.30 on a Sunday evening and only just managed to find a table and ended up sitting on a stool which was not the most comfortable way to eat a meal.Staff were friendly and efficient and we enjoyed our meal.

Lovely courtyard tempted us for a refreshment stop on the way back from walking Ben Y Vrackie. Super old pub, but really need bar staff who know what beers you have. Lad who served us had no clue of the difference between lagers and beers, or could tell us about the types on offer. Worst still he seemed not to care. Shame really, as otherwise enjoyed our visit. It’s not difficult!

Not stayed in the hotel, but we have eaten in the bar. The food quality is high, using local produce, well cooked, and generous portions. The log fire was going, creating a really good atmosphere, very friendly and relaxing.

Traditional pub with decent grub and pleasant service. Nice homebrew beer. Very chatty brewer at the microbrewery next door! Happy to show us his equipment and talk us through the process. Shame the wait staff wouldn't tell us which of his beers we were drinking though!

Really friendly staff, great food and a great night's sleep. There were nice little touches throughout. Definitely good value for money. There was a good selection of gluten free food available, and for breakfast they even had vegan milk.

Had a lovely stay, staff friendly and attentive. Good cooked breakfast to set you up for the day. Room could do with attention but nothing major. Cosy pub with coal fire, hot food with good portion sizes, recommend the steak and ale pie and fish and chips.
