Had the curried cauliflower and onion bhaji soup, which had a lovely earthy taste. Felt the soup could have been curried a little more, but it was great nevertheless. My chateaubriand was cooked to perfection - medium rare - and the red wine jus seriously strong on the beef. Perhaps, if i'm being super picky, it could have been cooked on the charcoal a bit more or something as that charcoal flavour was a too subtle.

6 of us went for Sunday lunch to celebrate our eldest turning 9. I can't fault our visit. We were made to feel very welcome. I took cake in for the birthday boy. Our youngest loved the kids menu and the birthday boy ate every last scrap of his roast dinner. My mum had soup, two of us had pork belly and one breaded plaice to start. Every single one was packed with flavour and perfectly cooked. We all had the roast beef. It was thinly sliced, soft, juicy and pink. The carrots and parsnips were roast beautifully as well as perfect roast potatoes and a fluffy Yorkshire pud. We cheekily asked for more gravy as it was so good. My youngest had the macaroni cheese, again it was perfectly cooked and bursting with flavour. The wine list is excellent and there is a lovely selection of aperitifs. We can't wait to have an occasion to return!

Fantastic food! Everything we tried was superb. Although we aren't vegetarian, the vegetarian options of salt baked celeriac and the Jerusalem artichoke were our favourites. We'll definitely be back again soon.

Modern, quiet and cosy! Staff were super friendly, food was quick, and amazing. Would recommend!

·

Been here a few times now and absolutely love the place. Fantastic food, 1st class service and will definitely be visiting this lovely restaurant again.

·

A lovely little restaurant. Was very quiet when we went. The place is lovely. The staff friendly and helpful. Not your everyday food sold here, so it was a nice change to try something different. The sides are enough to share and unique and really nice. I had the monkfish and it was yum. Not really a place to bring kids due to the type of meals. But a must go to place

Fabulous meal. Covid secure. Top quality ingredients used in all dishes and cooked very well. Service was good, friendly efficient waitress and nice gaps between courses. Did not feel rushed at all. Loved all the food. Would definitely return.

We had lunch booked at the Peat Inn, but they cancelled so we booked this place as a fall back. Well, am I glad we did, absolutely superb food (Pork belly, Chateaubriand and chocolate tart) made with top quality ingredients, the service was unhurried and all in a lovely atmosphere. We will definitely be back. The Peat Inn's loss is The Roost's gain!

Cannot fault anything about this restaurant. Fabulous food, fabulous service in a perfect setting. So difficult to choose as the menu was full of mouth watering selections and each choice we made did not fail to amaze.
