Black Bull in Stirling
Where is Black Bull?
🏠 Main St, Gartmore, Stirling FK8 3RW
"From the 1950’s the Black Bull continued to serve the village but, like many of Britain’s pubs, faced an era of decline. However, in 2019 the pub was purchased by the local community and since then has been lovingly refurbished. The Black Bull is at the heart of the village of Gartmore! *OPENING TIMES CHANGE AS OF 10TH JANUARY 2022 [until further notice]* MONDAY & TUESDAY: BAR ONLY FROM 5PM – 9:30 PM RESTAURANT / KITCHEN CLOSED WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY: BAR OPEN 3PM – 10:30 PM RESTAURANT OPEN FROM 5PM – 8:30 PM FRIDAY – SUNDAY: BAR OPEN FROM 12PM – 10:30 PM LUNCH SERVED FROM 12PM – 3PM RESTAURANT 5PM – 8:30 PM Please visit our website or call us for latest update on opening times!"

Slow service with things missing from the order. Kids had to wait even longer due to an issue with their meal and was then dripping in grease. No one asked how the meal was or if we needed sauces etc. Not sure if they were having a bad day but with such a simple menu you wonder how it gets so wrong unfortunately won't be back or recommending.

Had a lovely bite to eat here. Lucky enough on a sunny spring day so had a chance to eat outside. Inside looked amazing also! Friendly staff and good grub

This was a surprisingly big place for a small village, look closely on website for opening times. We came for dinner and got good quality food served by pleasant staff then stayed for pint by the fire, before heading back. I think they do have a limit to some of the food, certain items like some of the specials ran out quick, I don't know if this is regular or a one off. I had a cajun chicken burger which was fine well, not too dry, my wife had a vegetable burger, which is always a little hit or miss, sadly this time was a miss, not very flavoursome (in hindsight should have ordered fish and chips) restaurant and bar were tidy and well run by lovely staff. Would come again for a longer session thanks for having us 😊

Spent Hogmanay at this great little Hotel in the Trossachs , super friendly staff and locals. The food is excellent and service faultless, our room was huge and very comfortable and clean. Sat in the bar for the bells with a piper and given a dram by the brilliant bar staff, Will definately return to the Black Bull again 👌

Simply brilliant; dog welcomed with a bowl of water and treats before we even sat down, human food was delicious, loaded fries with haggis, black pudding and a pink peppercorn sauce was truly eye-opening! We'll be back 😊

We ended up here for a midweek stay after a disastrous booking elsewhere, and what a find we stumbled upon. Friendly staff and fantastic food - we had the chicken the first night and the fish and chips and burger the second, and then sticky toffee pudding which was the best I've ever had. There's also a direct bus from Glasgow to Gartmore so I'm sure we'll be back! A lovely experience.

Disappointing experience. Staff were very friendly but a little inexperienced; for example we didn't get our desert menu until we had already ordered from another waiter, eaten, and paid the bill. The food did not warrant the price. We ordered a sundried tomato and asparagus risotto; we were brought a severely undercooked risotto with whole cherry tomatoes and no seasoning - this cost us £15. The chef cannot possibly have tasted this before it was sent out, it was literally crunchy. Menu has good potential but poor execution. There are some very easy improvements they can make to improve things but at present it feels like a bit of a tourist trap.

We had a lovely late lunch here and the staff were very accommodating and attentive. Food all freshly cooked and the chicken goujons from the kids menu were some of the best I have tasted. Would highly recommend and will visit again when next in the area. Thank you for fitting us in last minute 🤩

Really nice pub with a great selection of drinks. Staff very attentive and friendly. We had a family meal in the restraraunt which has a lovely atmosphere and is set out really nicely. Slightly let down with the steak, but I didn't feel the need to complain as it was edible. Maybe consider changing meat supplier as others have said you can get juicer ones out the supermarket. Kids menu needs a rethink and simplified, if you offer pizza just make a proper mini pizza and go easy on the garlic. Over all excellent place but might be trying too hard

This place was on our map after tv program and we were not disappointed. We had the opportunity to have a lunch here on Saturday. Not the best start on our arrival but later was only better. Big thank you to very attentive staff (a girl with dark hair and pony tail), We had great lunch with fish & chips and laksa. Both very tasty. Also met some of the owners of the pub.Definitely we will be back with dinner reservation in advance
