Lovely hotel, great food, staff helpful and friendly, view of the loch is stunning.

Nice venue and location. Polite and pleasant staff, helpful throughout stay. Room small but pleasant, floor creecking when walking. Main light in bedroom flickering. In need of some TLC.Restaurant pleasant, local "pub grub".

Located perfectly on the banks of the Loch. Ample carparking, easy access to everywhere else, both straight into the Loch and Including the Ben Ogle walking trail that just starts 3 minites up the road. Yet feels like it has it's own space, With stunning views over the water, from bedroom and the breakfast room.As always with the Scottish- staff are really friendly and welcoming, attentive, and will give whatever you ask for. So no issues there at all. Also a lovely small library/study room to relax in too.Shower is strong, with plenty power and good temperature. For anyone with an Electric Car, there even appears to be a charging point for guests too right next to the entrance! So Why only 3 stars? The £90/night is definitely only because of location.Nice cosy room, very clean but regrettably a lot is spoilt by the "little things".Generally Scottish old building hotels always in need of some TLC, but here you expect better, so it feels a bit run down.Small things like:*Lights in corridor were flickering*a light not working in the bathroom, which stood out.*Main Light in bedroom is wrong/horrible colour ("temperature") and flickering intermittently.*No bath mats or bathroom floor towels provided as standard.*No eggs during breakfast! I understand it's continental due to Covid, but at least some hardboiled eggs in a basket ?I didn't bring these to attention, as these should have been checked proactively before room was signed off anyway. Then there are big things that need attention:*Window frames in bathroom rotten alot*blinds missing the string to open and close them*Seal around bath is really poorly done and messy. Like it was applied using a broken twig.*Bath panel poorly fitted out of place, with sealent everywhere, just looked unappealing.*Although a wardrobe in room, not enough hanging places for jackets etc.*bathroom floor tiles *extremely* slippery when even slightly wet. (hence why expecting bath floor mats). Maybe wrong type of tiles used?*towel warmer is prettly useless at warming or drying towels. (Basically it's an old very simple design)*Window shelf in bathroom cut too short. So sides end up looking grotty.*wall tiles are definitely not laid flat, but they look fresh and new, so that can be ignored.*etcMost of these things are not even difficult to get resolved, but would make all the difference.Rest of room is fine. Has an adjustable electric heater, kettle, with fully stocked teas coffee etc. Plenty of socket points, even for international users. Huge TV, not that i used it, (because why on earth would you want to watch TV with beautiful views, with loads of different walks outside, or a library to read books or play games in !!)Weirdly, Bathroom is massivley oversized compared to room space. Maybe useful for those taking part in lake watersports? But being a fake wall, feel like a foot or two could have been taken out of bathroom, still have too much space, but would make bedroom bigger and less cramped.Maybe many people can overlook these issue, usually I can, but I felt annoyed at paying a higher rate, with so many small issues in the way.I'll not upload all the photos of the problems, as they are just things that need attention, rather than willful neglect.

Me and my 9 friends visited the cafe here for a quick bite to eat as we had been travelling all morning. We saw this cafe and decided to go in and check if there was space for us. The lady behind the bar was extremely rude straight away, telling us we should have booked but she would accommodate. We all came in and waited to be seated. She completely ignored us and spoke to what seemed to be a local so we sat down at a table. We waited for some menus but she continued to chat so one of us went up and asked for a menu. We were met with an extremely rude “there is limited stock” and shoved away to look over the menus. After feeling extremely unwelcome we decided that we would get up and leave as we refused to give our money to someone who spoke to us like dirt on the bottom of her shoes.Would definitely NOT recommend this cafe/restaurant as we were nothing but polite to her, however, we were met with a rude and cold attitude.

Rhoda and her staff are so friendly and helpful. They made my husbands birthday weekend really special. Thank you very much!

The manager, Rhoda, and her staff do an exceptional job. They were friendly, professional and helpful throughout out two night stay. The food was excellent especially the whisky sauce. We will definitely be back.

Great night away for a winter getaway great views Service good and lovely food . Also rooms decorated nicely. Good continental breakfast and great value. Would definitely recommend.

Very clean room , nice view of the loch. Helpful friendly staff, although not many of them. Food good on Sun but disappointing on Mon. Very well stocked bar. Leather couches in bar need replacing, would have been nice to see the fire or candles lit to add warmth to the room.

Super location and lovely views. Pretty comfy beds. Staff were nice. Bath and shower were decent. Massive portions of food at dinnertime and nice enough breakfast.Only bad point was the SPIDERS!!! I have never seen so many spiders at a hotel before... I counted at least 7 outside our room window and that's not even including the ones in our room and elsewhere in the hotel. As someone who's really quite aracnophobic, I was on edge before I went to sleep!!! I understand the fact that it's an old building but the least they could do is brush away the cobwebs for guests.

Enjoyed our stay, rooms clean quiet and comfortable, bathroom newly refurbished, great location, ease of parking, would prefer an option if a cooked breakfast, but the continental provided was fine.Hotel a bit tired in places, but I believe under recent new ownership, and coming out of a barren time for hospitality, understandable, would we stay again, yes.
