Stayed here for a 3 day weekend in May. Great location, right downtown close to many coffee and sandwich shops, Thistle shopping center 2 min walk, Stirling Castle a 10 to 15 min walk because its all uphill from hotel. Close to train station, definitely walkable with luggage. Cronies pub is an excellent choice for a meal, food was delicious and excellent service. Our room overlooked the main street, no issues with noise. Hotel has lots of character and history which we love about the Golden Lion.

Perfect spot for visiting the city center. The room was very large, clean but not spotless though (staints on door frames, visible pipes and bathtub belt poorly set, etc. But the sink, shower and bed were perfectly clean) The restaurant and bar are new, so very nice. And the price was totally fair.

A really nice, clean and relaxed venue with a large and well stocked bar. Quite quiet when we visited but that was ideal because we were with friends and had a good chat over a few well served pints. I'll definitely be back - this is a hidden gem in the middle of Stirling!

Hotel is in the town centre, 5 minute walk to shopping centres and main street. Our room was a good size and bathroom looked new. Reasonable prices for room, breakfast was extra, plenty choices. Reception, lounge and restaurants are in need of a bit of TLC. The WiFi only works in reception and lounge, no signal at all in rooms.

Friendly and helpful staff, we had room 103 very quite until the kitchen extractors came on at 6:00 (not complaining) The room was clean and tidy and quite large. The bathroom was fine and looked spotless. but the extractor fan, one of the ceiling lights and both the lights to either side of the mirror didn't work. We stayed for a wedding and I must say it was exceptionally well organised and the food was excellent. The buffet breakfasts were fine but the fried eggs were cold and the sausages like rubber. All in all a good place to stay and a great location. If we ever came to Stirling again I would defiantly stay there again preferably in room 103.

I would rather prefer housekeeping should pay attention to details, the room should look immaculate, it wasn't. Strange thing we had to pour water from both taps for around 15 minutes for a hot water. Service didn't work during 3 days our visit, whatever people need go down to the reception. However, location perfect, breakfast delicious, carpark free of charge.

Conveniently located and reasonably priced but not in good nick. Clearly the owner isn't interested in investing in keeping this lovely old charmer in good order. There were buckets for drips in the lobby and first floor public spaces, clear evidence on the ceiling that was not a new problem, my room had a missing wall mounted sconce by the bed, the extra cover had a large hole and mildew, and they are either short of cleaning staff or the staff wasn't interested as a plate I set out at 9am one morning was still there when I left at 10am the next day. The room was not cleaned during my stay but seemed clean on arrival. Restaurant and pub were nice and staff lovely.

A good city centre hotel with an excellent restaurant, the bar is also very good if a little pricy but not outrageous for a hotel. The staff were again excellent, friendly and helpful. The room I had was warm and comfortable, the only comment I have is the decor appears to be 1980s but decent quality. My stay was B&B, a good hearty breakfast in the morning overall value for money, very good.

Girls weekend sharing a family room which was spacious with a separate lounge area. Televisions in both lounge and bedroom, large corner bath and great walk in shower. Food was excellent at dinner and plenty of choice at breakfast . Been here a good few times and will always go back.

Very spacious family room. Beds were comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Reasonably priced. The meal in Cronies restaurant was very good and the setting was lovely. The decor and fittings in the room looked a bit tired but after the last two years I'm not surprised and certainly wouldn't mark the hotel down for it. We would definitely stay again and are grateful for the friendliness and hospitality of the staff.
