Very nice decorated gastro pub close to the entrance and parking of Stirling Castle. Extensive lunch menu. And.. a well deserved compliment for the coffees.

Very good fish & chips but please get rid of the cheese, salad and all other greens. Just put the chips and peas on the plate and forget the extras

I would not be returning here for the food. It was very basic and run of the mill.Atmosphere in the upstairs restaurant was dreary.Down stairs pub area has a better atmosphere. But I'd obit come here for a couple drinks, definitely eat some where else.

Great friendly service, beautiful, historical, interesting building and excellent value for money as food was very nice and portion sizes generous. We visited on Valentines day, the log fire was lit and there were fresh roses set out on the tables ♥️

I had the steak pie 4/5 but I was very hungry, Wife had chicken strips 2/5 lot on plate but chicken very dry and tough even to cut with knife. Over all 3/5 but first class customer service, friendly bar staff and good ambience.

Been going to Portcullis for nigh on 30 years. Food is always first class and well priced. Big portions and superb side salad of corn, carrot, cheese, coleslaw, salad leaves, toms, red onion....a meal in itself. 4 of us had dinner last night, 3 scampi...12 pieces, 1 steak pie which my husband, who has a great appetite, couldn't finish. Staff were attentive and quick to take orders and clear plates. No doubt, we will return

Great little pub near Stirling Castle. Me and my partner had the 320g steak with a Drambuie and mushroom sauce and a creamy garlic sauce. Steaks were beautiful, cooked to perfection, just as we like. Large portions! We could have rolled down the hill back to the hotel! Fantastic service, the staff were friendly and attentive. Worth a visit!

Birthday treat for myself and the missus,as I'd eaten here before and wanted to sample it once again and wasn't disappointed! Wife ordered camembert as starter and sweet chilli chicken for main course,I ordered chicken broth and ribeye steak with trimmings and it was simply fantastic. Staff are very friendly and prices were very reasonable considering the quality of service and meals. Definitely will return as there's so much Id love to sample on their menu!

Another gem of a find. I was on a shoot for Jewson and a lovely lady who worked there asked her friend who lives in Stirling for some local food recommendations. This was one of them. I was not disappointed! My friend and I sat by a roaring real fire, had a couple of drinks and some top notch grub! I had the Highland Chicken which was delicious! Not for those who don’t like haggis though! Haha! It’s in a stunning location right by the castle with fantastic views over Stirling and the Wallace Monument. Again, I wish we weren’t staying in a Premier Inn as we definitely would’ve stayed here. The rooms looked great and a fair price too. The staff were bloody lovely and we just had a great evening which topped off our road trip to Scotland. I wanted to stay!

This is a great experience. The staff are excellent and very Covid compliant. The good is brilliant, great portions, nice and hot where required and a really good choice. There is some parking at the door and more close by. There is disabled access and toilets etc. There's a good choice of drinks all at reasonable prices. Well worth a visit if you are in the vacinity. You are better to book to ensure a table as it is very busy and popular with locals, which is always a good sign.
