My favourite Fish and Chip shop in the United Kingdom.Set in the beautiful village of Allanwater, you can choose to dine in, in the cafe, or go to the “take away” side. Now I have been here a number of times and decided on a take away as it was sunny and my little boy wanted to play out:I got the “Medium” fish supper, my other half got a Jacket Potato (she’s on a diet!) and Macaroni Cheese for my son.Food as ever was sublime, beautiful and my little boy, the harshest critique, loved and ate all his Macaroni and Chips! Win win, lovely little day out to here it never ever disappoints.

I had a sit in fish and chips here recently. I have to say it was one of the nicest I have had in a long time. The batter was light and crispy. I'm drooling just thinking about it. The staff were efficient and friendly. Will return.

Dropped in for the first time in years. Restaurant was packed, so we went into the takeaway, got two small fish suppers, which were more than adequate or expected, food was all fresh made as we waited. Oh and we got ice-cream, which was lovely. Staff were friendly and polite. Would I return? Yes.

This Cafe/chip shop has been there since my childhood (many moons ago) and have patronised it many times, both sit in and carry out and have allways been delighted with service and food. Shame now that they have modernised the premises, taking away the traditional atmosphere, but also raising prices to the tune of just under ÂŁ19.00 for 2 fish suppers, carry out ! Sorry but that is just daylight robbery to put it politely and will not be returning. Still plenty other good chippys around, that deserve my custom.

First customers on opening for takeaway, honestly, disappointed. Ordered 3 lots of fish and chips at ÂŁ27, very expensive usually pay ÂŁ5_ÂŁ6. We were visitors to the area, and although it was expensive, hoped we would get value for money, this was not the case here. Fish very mundane, almost tasteless, and I'm wondering if the chips you use are frozen as some of mine were cold inside like undercooked frozen chips can be, again potatoes tasteless. Poor quality, would not use again, definitely not worth the price. The quality has to match the price, and in our experience, this was not the case.

Excellent chippy with a sit in cafe. Ordered a small fish supper meal which came promptly was well tasty and plentiful. Ice cream to follow was gorgeous. Recommend this place if you are in the area

Went for the fish tea and it was good. Extra bonus, it was on a Wednesday which turns out to be their gluten free day so my wife was able to have fish in batter. Service was good and it was not to costly.

It was busy when we went in - it is always a good sign. We ordered a haggis and a small fish supper and they were absolutely lovely. The batter was light and fish was very fresh. The small fish portion was generous. We were very interested in the ice cream but were too full to try any. Will try it next time tho!

One of the best fish suppers I have had in ages. Chips piping hot, good size piece of haddock with crispy batter- fantastic. A wee pot of tea and a coupla slice of bread what more can you ask for.
