We arrived without booking but they managed to accommodate us for which we are very grateful. The position.of the cafe is fantastic with views of the river and hills. The staff were very friendly and the food was amazing. Only had the small breakfast but very impressed with the quantity, quality and presentation. 2 very happy people left. Would highly recommend, and will definitely be going back.

Love this place. Best view from any restaurant in D&G. Whole place is glass with an amazing view of the river and surrounding hills. Foods very nice, although not cheap. Staff are friendly.Wish they'd start doing eggs Benedict again tho, that was my fav, they took it off the menu during lockdown.

This place is so fresh and bright with an amazing veggie/vegan menu. I've been here around a dozen times and the quality of the food, the service and the atmosphere never disappoints. Boathouse wedges are the best wedges I've had. Great for a catch up with friends, family outing, couples, quick coffee stop. On top of a lovely interior, cleanliness (the toilets have won cleanliness awards I think!), friendly vibe and a simple but amazing menu, you have a great view of Criffel. Even on a moody, cold day, the all around windows give you a panorama of the the Riverside. 10 minute drive or 30 minute cycle from Dumfries Town centre. They have a little shop with groceries and essentials as well as a gift shop with indie/handcrafted products. Most of all, me and my mum will keep coming back here as she is a wheelchair user and the access/facilities are fantastic. Staff very accommodating. Would recommend to any and all!

WOW WOW WOW, what can I say about this amazing place? On our way to through Scotland whilst on holiday we visited the Boathouse. We found it simply by doing a Google search for local places to eat.On arrival you can not help but see the beautiful surroundings. Then when you go inside you see how amazingly clean this place is. The loos were 5star hotel standard(immaculate).THE FOODI ordered a breakfast and it was out of this world. The quality of the food was without fail some of the best I’ve ever had. I assume it’s locally sourced. It was beautiful, we all eat everything and all commented how much we loved it.Every ingredient was of such a high standard of quality.THE STAFFthe staff was amazingly friendly, helpful and really chatty, Donna (who’s the cheeky one) served us and gave us a great insight into the menu and was a real gem.I have spent the day trying to think of something negative to say because of all the good things I want to say about this place but for the life of my I can’t find anything negative to say.If you are in the area of this place and want something to eat then this is the place to go. If I could give you all 100 stars I would.AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING

Fantastic restaurant with a varied menu. Beautiful surroundings. Our Afternoon tea was so special. Loved it. Great friendly staff too.

Our favourite place to eat and the best restaurant in Dumfries in my opinion. The food is always scrumptious, from the bread, sauce, dessert to main dish, everything is fresh made and yummy. Great quality and a stunning view. We love it. We had the brisket beef sandwich and smoked haddock fish cakes today, delicious. Sticky toffee cheesecake for dessert, it was perfect and not too sweet.

The Boathouse hosted our wedding recently and made it the more special, beautiful night. The restaurant itself is stunning, staff went above and beyond to help and the food was amazing. The manager picked some lovely alcohol free wine specially for us and was so friendly: I’d recommend time & time again. A lovely spot!
