Super friendly (including the dog!) , lovely food, chilled out vibe, and the staff were great. We don’t live locally but we’ll definitely stop by again when we next pass by. Thank you!

The food was good, tasty and well portioned. The atmosphere was bubbly and light and the table we were given was snug. The cages the burgers are served in were a bit weird, and it hurts my head to think about how they store them... But otherwise it was a nice dinnerWould recommend and go again

Our local art group booked the Tollgate Suite for an exhibition on Mother's Day in 2022. Following the recent flooding in Ambergate, Hurt Arms informed the group that the pub wouldn't be ready to re-open in time and the booking would have to be cancelled.Fair enough - local business, tough times, live and let live etc. Deposit returned and matter closed (even though the group had already spent time and money promoting the event at the Tollgate).Very surprising then to see the venue announce a few days later they will be reopening on Mother's Day after all, and inviting bookings.Pub has lost my support, won't be visiting again.

Great service, relaxed atmosphere and the best cheese burger I've had in a long time although the hand cut chips could have done with being crisper. Still 5 stars though.

The food was fabulous, the staff amazing, very relaxed atmosphere. A good place to go for a relaxed lunch or for a special celebration. There is something for everyone. My sister was I'll and could make it for lunch, so they packed up her meal for us to take back for her.

Strange service as was handled by 4 or 5 staff but overall ok, our bill came wrong but they had no issues in correcting it, also forgot two of our orders. Food was amazing however. My burger was next to impossible to eat with my hands so had to give in and use a knife and fork, but the flavours were brilliant.

Very clean and a very nice place to visit can't comment on the food because we only had a stop off point on the was home but wish we did as it smells amazing 😀 we will definitely be visiting there again and next time we will be trying the food. Looking forward to seeing this place again.

A nice place to eat though was quite busy on Sunday. Service good, food good but a different menu on Sundays so no steak 😭. Roast potatoes tasted a bit "old" but the rest was good. Prices are slightly above the average for pub meals but I would probably say worth it. I have a tip so I can't have been too disappointed.

Called in today for a couple of Christmas eve drinks with my Dad who lives nearby and was pleased with the way it was set out and decorated. It had a decent choice of beers which were priced "fairly" reasonably knowing that the place is owned by a group who own other fairly high end pubs within close proximity. However, we decided to have a short each for our final drinks but was quite shocked when I was charged £16.80 for 2 doubles & mixers. This is probably a sign of the times but with this being the only pub in the village, I think it's probably going to put people off calling more regularly than they would probably like to especially for locals who have no other option than to travel further afield. Why not, like many other pubs, give the customer an incentive to make it a double by charging half the price of the 1st measure which I'm sure would help gain loyal local custom. Lovely place but too expensive for a village pub imho.

A bit disappointing for a Sunday lunch. There was a reasonable choice and the food was basically OK but a lot of details let it down. The stuffing was very much a slab of school dinner style packet mix. The Yorkshire pudding was completely dried out on top and disintegrated when you cut it. Also the roast potatoes were buried under the veg and had no crispness whatsoever. It was mediocre for the £13 price tag in my opinion and could have been much better.
