Marino's Fish Bar and take away in Amber Valley

There was a bit of a queue but it was worth the wait it was all cooked fresh to order. The cod was white white and the batter crispy. The chips weren't soggy but crisp. The grandkids thought it was brilliant, will definitely call again

Genuinely some of the best fish and chips I've ever had. Portion size was great and very reasonably priced.

Portion sizes were decent but expected more for £12. The fish was OK but the chips were bone dry and the breaded mushrooms were completely raw and inedible. We were also given a visibly dirty glass and had to ask for a replacement. Waiting staff were nice and apologetic but we were very disappointed. I expected more from Rye and will try somewhere else next time.

The fish and chips (both cod and haddock) are from high quality, which where DELICIOUS! Furthermore, the sides where also good, although we were quite full already 😅. Last but not least, the place is very cosy and the staff is very friendly.

Can't praise this place highly enough! Called by after a lovely day in Rye and had cod roe with large chips to take away. Delicious! The owner was friendly and we chatted while the food cooked. Will definitely be back in Rye sometime and will certainly be going here again.

Disappointed with the whole experience. In my opinion, the fish and chips were tasteless. The diet coke came with no gas. Service was ok. Portions are huge. Guess our expectations were too high considering the rating the place has.

We dined in and took away from here while staying in Rye. Both times the service was excellent (friendly, polite and fast) and the food was equally good (fish perfectly battered, chips crispy on the outside/fluffy on the inside, and pickled onions nice and crunchy). Best fish and chips we've had in a long time.

To say I’m very disappointed is the understatement of the year. I was told this is the best fish and chip shop Rye has to offer. Forget it the food is terrible, dry overcooked and virtually inedible. £15.00 for two medium (tiny) overcooked cod and double dipped chip scraps. Starving so eat what we could with 0% enjoyment. Best bit was I had to wait 30 mins standing outside for this, you would think it would be fresh. You guys need to up your game, i for one will never use again or recommend. What a shame!

Great little shop/restaurant, got a last minute booking on a Friday evening. I'll be honest, I've had better fish. Not to say it was bad, but it wasn't amazing. The chips on the other hand...... Wow! Fresh, hot, crispy and large portions. Amongst the best I've had from a chip shop!Also, I wish they did their own fresh tartar sauce rather than packet.
