Always great service, amazing drinks and delicious food. I thoroughly enjoyed my ploughman's lunch.

This was quite disappointing as the coffee shop is lovely and the cakes looked amazing but the oldest lady serving was very snappy, short tempered and a little rude. If we asked questions she answered "look at the menu" or "it tells you there" rather than assisting us.(The young girl serving was lovely)When the food finally arrived it was decidedly average. I didn't get the chutney on my toastie (dare not ask grumpy lady) and my sons pancakes with maple syrup looked like 4 small shop brought pancakes with 1 rasher of fatty bacon chopped up and a shed load of syrup. It certainly wasn't worth the money. The coffee is great and the locally made items to buy there are lovely but I won't be eating there again.

Brilliant grade coffee as usual from brown bear, particularly the blue mountain.

Now I know that you have to wait for fresh food to be cooked but a 50 minute wait for our order was a bit on the ridiculous side, then when it arrived my brie and cranberry toasty had a chunk of beef burger on top, I'm vegetarian so was put off by this, I'd also question if they could cope with serving food without cross contamination of other foods, which is especially important with so many people having food intolerances. The young lady who was bringing was apologetic and offered to get me something else, but I think that I could have grown a beard in the time it would take to arrive.

Such a lovely little cafe, food always tastes fresh and is always warm. You get what you pay for and the menu has such a large variety of food! It’s very quite inside however that’s the charm of it, you feel very relaxed here.

Lovely little coffee shop, the ambiance is homely, the food is lovely and the staff were very helpful. We had soup and a sandwich which was very tasty and fresh, then we shared the fruit and cake platter and there was plenty for 2. The food and coffee was delicious and we will be returning very soon. Covid safe too.

My friend and I went for coffee this morning at 11 am. I had pre booked. On arrival we were told they were very busy with orders and there may be a slight delay. There were 6 people on two tables, all waiting to be served. We waited for half an hour before we were all served. I realised what was happening, Brown Bear are operating a takeaway / collection service, which obviously takes precedence over the people who take the time to pre book, follow government guidelines and appear in person!!Disgraceful. Brown Bear is one place I won’t be visiting in future, when there are other places nearby that show honesty, integrity, and show respect for their customersSue Cartwright

Went for Christmas themed afternoon tea, was very disappointed with the whole experience and felt like I had wasted money, it was very regimental while dealing with the customs, once the food was out you didn't see another member of staff until it was time to clear up. There was no choice about the sandwiches nor was there a menu to see what you was getting. It was my mums birthday and I wanted to treat her, but she ate very little as she didn't like the choice of sandwiches. Cheese and tomato chutney and thurkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce. The ambience was lovely just a shame about the over priced food. Won't be returning any time soon. Also is you struggle with stairs this isn't the place for you as there is on other option to get up to the cafe. What you see is what you got.

This place is really lovely. The food is freshly prepared and excellent quality. The menu selection is perfect from full English served all day to burgers, sandwiches and soup etc. The cakes taste home made and are delicious.Great selection of coffees and soft drinks to choose from. The only downside is that there is no wheelchair or pram access and its upstairs but the staff will help with getting prams up and down.
