The Excavator in Amber Valley

Enjoyed a lovely lunch here with 2 friends. Although I'd booked a table it wasn't overly busy so we could actually choose where we wanted to sit. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Great choices on both the normal menu and the special menu. I like that they do a lighter bites section, just right for when you don't want to be too full at lunch time. We didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive and it was very nice, tasty and well presented. Will definitely be back. Thank you!

Our experience was nothing short of fantastic. We had a large area booked out for our wedding reception. When we arrived the staff made sure we were taken care of and nothing was to much trouble. They decorated the area for our wedding reception even adding lovely details like fresh flowers to make it extra special.The food was fantastic and was cooked and presented very well with all guests enjoying their meals. The drinks were also lovely.I had such a great experience and the staff truly went above and beyond to help us celebrate our day and make it one to remember.Thank you to Diane and all of her amazing team.

The whole experience was lovely and the staff were attentive and helpful. The food was exactly as expected and the whole place had a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We didn't have to wait long for the food either which was great. The only thing I would mention as something to improve was that the large boards outside the pub were advertising that it was 'King of the Grill' day but there was no indication of what this meant on the menus. The staff informed us that the menus had just changed but there would be a reduction on the grill orders that day but they weren't sure on which ones. Lucky for us, the steaks we ordered were on offer so we got great value for money too! Overall I was really happy with the service and establishment.

Just called in here after doing a local walk. Looks very nice inside, nice little outside space with a few tables close to the road but in the sun which was nice. Just wanted a lunchtime snack but they only do a full a la carte menu however they were happy for us to choose a couple of starters which were very nice and good service. If they did snacks and sandwiches they would have got 5 stars. Definitely worth a try but don't expect any sandwiches.

Had an amazing meal staff really friendly service top notch... young girl so pleasant. Entertainment provided by a gent who read minds, to say our minds have been blown away by him well.... he's a must see when he returns.... come on all get back out there make a meal of it we've been locked down to long :)

Having booked to have our Christmas lunch at the excavator and thoroughly enjoying it we decided to come back over the new year bank holiday weekend.We didn’t make a booking but called in on the off chance. It was busy but the young girl found us a table and showed us over.We were told there was a smaller menu as it had been extremely busy and they were short on items but, having looked through the menu didn’t find this a problem as there was something for everyone and we were more than pleased when the food came.All in all, a great visit again.Lovely atmosphere, helpful staff regardless of how busy they were and would definitely recommend and certainly visit again.

Lovely clean pub. Greeted with a smile and handed the menu taken to the table by polite staff. Ordered our food and drinks both excellent cold drinks piping hot food. Will definitely be returning

Called in on an off chance as the young one had got tired of cycling. Few beers and great food set us up for the evening. We were quite muddy from cycling but were made most welcome. Will definitely plan a stop in for future rides 🙂

Warm welcome, friendly staff. No problem getting a table, even though it was a Sunday. Good no nonsense, well priced food. Decent drop of Bomdaier served here. Recommended
