We were looking for a hotel/B&B in the Alton Towers/Matlock Bath area and stumbled upon The Family Tree. Wow, what a find. It's a lovely family run B&B with beautifully decorated and appointed rooms in a grade 2 listed former coach house. The breakfast is outstanding, gorgeous cereal, fruit and pastry options followed by a cooked breakfast option. Service is first class and very friendly. There's a large courtyard garden filled with different seating options, all set in their own individual areas so each feels private. We will definitely return.

Great food and friendly helpful staff. I've not been here for 17 odd years ( it was a pub the last time I was here. It's a lovely eatery now. And dog friendly 🐕👍.

Stayed here and would stay again. Family tree is well run and welcoming. Service is good and the meals are great. Cake in generous portions and all home made.

Beautiful meal. Only had a jacket potatoe but it was beautiful, salad, slaw, cheesy chicken pesto. Yummy!! Lovely beer gardern, will definitely be back. Xx

Tasty and nicely presented toasties, sandwiches and ciabatta bread with a reasonable choice of fillings. Chips and fries are crispy. Good choice of cakes and bakes, looked delicious, though we were too full to try them. The setting was comfortable with a choice of comfy sofas, traditional tables or to sit outside. After being seated, service could have been quicker to take the orders but when she did come over the lady was pleasant and drinks and food arrived in a timely manner thereafter. Overall, a good place for a coffee and a bite to eat.

Absolutely stunning room/bathroom. The staff were excellent, friendly and couldn't do enough for us and the breakfast was amazingWe would definitely highly recommend the B&B to everyone plus we have and will continue to recommend the cafe to everyone we see while walking our fur babies that way.We always love to visit when we are out walking the canal with our fur babies as the cafe only is very dog friendly

An ideal location to explore the eastern Peak District. Superb breakfast to start the day. Really comfortable bed in a tastefully decorated room. All the staff were really friendly and helpful.

Perfect find on our Saturday Walk. Dog Friendly as long as the owners are well behaved. Loverly breakfasts with good sausages and nice bacon. Friendly staff and great service. Very clean and tidy facilities.

Menu was very varied along with specials board. It was very busy and there was a wait for the food but it was well worth it. Every thing really well presented and service really good. Nothing better for a foray out on Saturday lunchtime and a catch up with friends. The deserts looked amazing but I was so full I could not take advantage of them. Will definitely be back again. Looking forward to sunny days as the garden area looked great but it was very windy and raining when we went. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. I love not being rushed.
