The Gate Inn in Amber Valley

Our third visit overall and second time for Sunday roast with both food and service being excellent each time. I had roast sirloin of beef which although being a couple of pounds more than the other roast meats is definitely worth it, very juicy and rich. My wife had the lamb which was also very tender and enjoyable. Dishes were served with roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, pansnips, stuffing and a yorkshire pud with an enormous serving of veg in another bowl. Extra gravy was offered and we said yes, expecting the usual small jug, but we're supplied with a gravy boat that would serve a family 😋. Very good value for money both in terms of quality and quantity.It's a very busy pub but well staffed with a friendly and competent team to cope with demand and has run very smoothly on all our visits. Lovely pub, well presented with a nice carpark & playground. Menu has a good selection of options and prices are reasonable. Portions are sizeable and presented with style. Nearly all the food we had was great, the chunky chips with the fish and chips were a little soggier than the skin-on fries that came with the burgers. All in all would go again.

1st visit but definitely wont be our last. Good selection of beers. Good menu and the food was excellent. Great friendly staff too. A little rowdy in the lounge area where we sat but overall a great night

We visited quite late in the evening after walking from Matlock but we were seated and greeted quickly. It was busy so the initial service took a bit of time but the food arrived quickly.There was a good choice for vegetarians and everything we asked for was available.The atmosphere was nice and family friendly. It also seems well behaved dogs are welcome.I would recommend.

Food was unbelievable, massive hats off to the kitchen for producing this! Everyone enjoyed their food immensely. Came here yesterday for my birthday and was not disappointed, beautifully decorated and food was phenomenal. Would recommend!

A great find for dinner. We ordered the beef skewer, the meat was so tasty and tender. Great service and attentive staff. Well done to the team, we enjoyed visiting very much.

Really good atmosphere. Food is fantastic quality. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. We had a few elderly people on our table and the bar staff were more than happy to bring our drinks to the table rather than us going to the bar. There's also a great little play area for kids in the large beer garden....... The Gate has become a regular Saturday afternoon venue for us, the afternoon specials are very reasonably priced.

Nice relaxed atmosphere, our waitress was exemplary. I enjoyed my meal of chicken burger and salted caramel cheesecake for dessert, but both were lacking some real flavour. Unfortunately the birthday guests steak was inedible, all fat throughout but a free pudding was offered as a condolence.Might call again for a quick bite, but I wouldn't recommend for a special occasion.

Loved this pub! Fantastic food, great service and dog-friendly. Our dog was brought a bowl of water without us having to ask. Our food was tasty and plentiful. We managed a main course each and shared 2 puddings between 4 of us. Delicious!

Popped in with a friend for lunch. I Had never been before so had no expectations. The place is a hidden little gem. Lovely, Modern, Clean, And Welcoming. With very friendly helpful staff. We only had a light lunch of Tempura Battered Veg, Chips and side salad. But we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Was more than enough for lunch. I will be returning to try more if the menu. And be bringing more family and friends along.
