The Thorn Tree in Amber Valley

Went today for birthday family meal, waited 25 minutes for drinks, only 4 other people in, 35 minutes later asked for main course, 30 minutes later got served! It seems to have no one in charge, no one came over to ask if we or food was okay! Then 5 staff took turns in cleaning cutlery while we sat waiting to be looked after 🤬 we spent £165 and had to ask for service that should have been provided… can see why it was empty. This is what happens when young people run a restaurant 🤬🤬🤬

We only went in the fish and chips takeaway bit and it smelled amazing we took our food home and it was delicious! Offers to give us cutlery but we were going straight home! Staff are lovely. Nice and clean and fresh!

Was a bit surprised there wasnt a table available at 12 as when we walked in at 20 past it was virtually empty. Ordered drinks but after 10mins had to go and enquire after them. The fish and chips were beautiful. The steak was edible but the sauce wasnt great for £2.50. The desserts although nice were over very priced. In fact almost £70 for 3 mains, 2 sweets and 3 drinks was way over what it was worth. The waitress was lovely but she appeared to be the only one doing much at all. Shame

Very poor bones in the fish. As a child I got a bone stuck in my throat. The manager wot ever she was said look at liability disclaimer so wrong. Absolutely no customer service ill never go again

Menu is very limited and not recommended for vegans and vegetarians. Most of the options are fish and chips, but they do meat pies, curries, steaks and burgers. But there's not many to pick from and you may struggle to find something that you like.The staff were friendly polite and helpful.Food was nice and tasty except would of been nice if the beef burger option hinted spicy, as alot of people who eat beef burgers eat beef for the lack of spice, and like the bland taste.

Perfect chips and a nice burger, couldn’t ask for more for a decent price.

This is a lovely Pub/restaurant.The decor is nice, the staff are very friendly and helpful.The food is very good for the price.I had the large cod with chips and peas and my partner had the waffle Chicken.Both of us tried each others and neither of us had any complaints.The chicken was tender and moist, the fish was nicely cooked in a light crispy batter.My partner had a desert, (Caramac apple crumble) which she said was very good.Drinks are reasonably priced.Well worth a visit if you are in the area.We will be back to try the Sunday lunch, and I'm sure we will have a few more meals at lunch and in the evenings.

Second time I've been here....last time was over 4 years ago ....still a good place for food! Nice menu ... especially if you're a fan of fish. Good service, decent prices and a nice garden for summer days out back.

Eaten here twice now amazing food amazing staff would highly recommend and what a view!
