We had to send one dish back!Delicious food but had to deduct stars for the cutlery not being polished there were dishwasher marks left on all of them, and the special of the noodles was very sour. I must say to their credit they replaced the dish quickly and without fuss so I've increased my rating to four stars.Our friend is used to Asian food and eats it on a regular basis and he said the noodles were definitely off. Other customers were questioning the flavour but the chef was saying that it was correct. We feel the flavour profile was not balanced. Maybe too much lime juice was added to the miso?The steaks and mixed grills however were perfect. The ribeye cut like a knife through butter. The meat was so tender. Even the grilled herb tomatoes were so ripe and delicious. The chips were near perfect crunchy crispy and fluffy on the inside. They soaked up the vinegar perfectly which cut through the oil of the chips. Altogether a marriage of barbecue flavours that go together perfectly.We had the local IPA and a cider which paired perfectly with the meals.The restaurant was busy with local regulars and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Every request we made was met with a courteous "no problem" reply. Service was impeccable.The desserts for those in our party who could manage them were also delicious. There was a Mars bar Cheesecake and a kinder bueno tart which was dense chocolate. Highly recommended if you still have room after your main course! (I didn't!)

Our first visit here and definitely won’t be our last. The food was exceptional and really good value too. The staff were attentive, friendly and overall we had a lovely experience. We will be back with friends for sure. Nice to see a local business thriving. Well done and keep up the good work 👍🏻

Welcome we received and service throughout was second to none. Went for Sunday lunch and did 186 miles round trip for it. The surroundings were perfect and nicely spaced so felt comfortable. The only thing that bothered me was a soggy yorkie pud and it didn’t appear to be from gravy or because the meat was on top of it. Everything else was lovely. Would I make the 186 Mile round trip again? Yes I would go try a different meat or even go for steak night or a la carte. Keep up the good work guys, you can tell a lot about a place in how busy they were and there wasn’t a table free!

Excellent food, lovely cosy atmosphere, helpful staff. Service charge included but made clear by waitress. We always tip higher than that for good food/service but always seems presumptuous to me.

I had a table booked for Valentines but unfortunately my partner caught covid so we couldn't go. Most companies would have cancelled my booking and taken my deposit, however they kindly transferred my deposit over to the butchers and gave me incredible sirloin steaks, the tastiest garlic mushrooms and some chips. I'm in awe of the service they provided when they didn't have to do that.Honestly thankyou so much! Your kindness is appreciated

We have been hear a few times and always been excellent, but tonight terrible ordered a fillet and was so fatty had to send it back nothing was cooked how we asked for the mushrooms was really undercooked as-well as tomato and chips , filet was not a fillet with the he amount of fat in , sent it back to the. He told kitchen had closed and mushrooms or tomatoes , terrible meal and have to pay full prices even though they had to take the meal back avoid at all costs rubbish meal

We came to porterhouse by Barlows for our 10th wedding anniversary tonight after we had a fantastic experience in December.We arrived to find that they had dressed our table with anniversary balloons and offered us a complimentary drink. They even remembered us from our one attendance in December. They also remembered my dietary restrictions and that was just the start of an amazing evening.I ordered the pork belly and it was cooked to perfection. Very little fat and melt in the mouth tender.My husband had the tomahawk steak (you need to pre order it) and it was huge! Perfectly cooked to how he likes it with chips that were crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle.All of the staff are friendly and attentive and it’s great that you can see Chef Dave cooking in the kitchen.I can’t recommend this place enough.

Very good menu. Very well cut meat. Very well cooked steaks - to my specifications. Very tasty salad, mushrooms and chips to boot. Very friendly people. Very decently priced for the high quality food. If there's anything to complain about, it's the lack of parking and the limited tables. That did not hinder our fantastic meal.
