The Countryman Pub and Dining in Ashfield

Excellent food, great portions and great value for money. Went on a Tuesday night, which turned out to be steak & soul night so we had a great soundtrack to our meal 🙂 Staff were incredibly polite and friendly- wish we'd discovered this place sooner and will be coming back again.

Food tasted fresh and homemade, nice looking place. A lot of comfort food on menu and not too expensive. Advise booking as when we visited we wasn't able to sit in the actual dining room as it was fully booked for lunch but we did have full table service in the bar area.

Fairly regular visitors here, never fails to please.Lastest visit was for 10 people, food and service first class, on time piping hot, what more can I say.Well done everyone will be seeing you soon.Thanks.

Two stars is pushing it. Booked a table for 2 for Valentine's Day dinner, advertised with table decorations and a single red rose. Arrived, loads of tables set out as mentioned, we were taken to one without the decorations. I queried this with staff only to be told they had no note of the booking being a "Valentine's meal." I'd not actually been asked when booking and wrongly assumed a Valentine's meal is what I was coming for on Valentine's Day. When I asked about it again I was told we'd get the decorations and rose if we ordered a Valentine's meal...well, too late and really not what you want on a special day. So instead we booked a table at another local pub and duely left, quite annoyed and frustrated, but we had a lovely meal and evening elsewhere (at half the price). Heard many good things about The Countryman, unlikely I will be back though. Could have quite easily been resolved but staff were not willing to do anything about it.

Superb Menu, lovely main restraunt, however the bar area is super cosy..and the early bird menu is amazing value with quality produce...and absolutely delicious 😋. My friend and I had an amazing run up to Xmas lunch here...amazing

Was a lovely welcome from the host. Emma our waitress was very friendly and informative. The food was amazing. Only criticism is for a pub / dining experience with lovely decor they have plastic plants. Which looked cheap and nasty...get some real plants in there to finish off the ambience..and make the whole experience pleasurable...

My first time eating at The Countryman. Booked in advance, pleasant greeting, shown immediately to table. Extensive menu, chose Steak au Poivre, food was excellent, service very good. It wasn't cheap £30 for Main meal, sweet and a pint. But would fully recommend. Give it a try,

Our 1st visit here, we came to pick up a new car and the salesman Craig at Kia recommended you. We're so glad he did as we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. We were lucky to get 1 of 2 remaining tables on a Thursday lunchtime so probably a good idea to book. We were taken to our table and then introduced to Thalia who would look after us. A lovely simple idea but helped to make the experience memorable. We ordered from the lunchtime special menu and weren't disappointed. 2 excellent meals and sweets , roast of the Day and pie of the day with a good selection of fresh veg. And great value at £10.95 each for the 2 courses.Our only complaint is it's just over 60 miles from home so we won't be able to come regularly. In our view it's how eating out should be, great food ,service and value. A lovely birthday treat for Alison as wellWell done all

Arranged a 50th birthday for 24. Staff were wonderful and so helpful. Night went without a hitch and food was fantastic. Great service to ensure we were all served together table by table. Great room made our night one to remember. Thank you countryman we will definitely be returning😊

First time we've been here. Service 10/10 they made you welcome the meal was amazing steak was spot on 10/10 puddings delicious . Would highly recommend. We will be definitely going back. Wasn't expensive very reasonable. The meal is well presented 100% will be back to try the 3 course at 13.95 .
