Gurkha in Bassetlaw

Our first experience of Ghurka takeaway and we are very pleased with our decision. The food and service was excellent and now plan to eat in the restaurant very soon.

Had a really nice meal. Very nice well cooked and very tasty. Drinks and three courses for 3 of us came to £70. Service was excellent by very friendly staff.

Ok so I am re-writing this review. Why, , because for some reason the last one dropped off Google reviews, and, I was so impressed last time I went.Easy to say the food is very good, the atmosphere relaxing, the staff are friendly and helpful and the owners will cater for large (pre-booked) groups.Great place to eat.

Picked up an order tonight. The food was provided was good, but I was missing a dish. Emailed the restaurant to let them know, but I have not received a response yet.

I've just been to Gurkha Indian restaurant in Retford, the food was absolutely amazing, and really fresh, but the staff really did go that extra mile to make sure we was all happy. Absolutely awesome experience, can't thank you enough

Sorry to say but had a really disappointing meal last night. Ordered three totally different meals but all had the same watery, tomato and onion sauce base. Dopiaza had a few more onions thrown in, madras had a bit more chilli thrown in and then the jalfrezi had a few green chillis thrown in. No authentic flavours in any of them. Gave them the benefit of trying them again after a poor meal a few months back but definitely will not be returning or recommending.

One of the best curry house's I've ever been to. The food is always stunning and fresh. Will be back.

What a fabulous find. Delicious food, cooked to your taste, a lovely atmosphere and an extremely warm owner whose staff are a credit. Interestingly, though we searched for an Indian restaurant it is in fact Nepalese though all the Indian favourites are on the menu. We thought we'd give it a go, being new to the area...I can't imagine we will be going anywhere else now when we fancy Nepalese/Indian food!

Let's start with the food... we ordered starters to share... mixed gurkha starter -the sweet and sour sauce elevated this dish, all meat cooked on point. Lamb chops - amazing flavour however slightly overdone (not to the point worth raising ). Onion bhaji - phenomenal, nothing more to add...Onto the mains..I am a gluten for a phall but fancied more flavour than spice... didn't quite fancy a vindaloo but more a madras but with more spice, requested this and I must say delivered on point... Mrs ordered a lamb saag and the meat was so tender it fell apart.I save special 5* rating for how good both the pickle tray and the garlic naan is compared to the delivery version.. again not a criticism, delivery will never taste as good!Service - simply flawless from beginning to endAtmosphere- absolutely suited, maybe a tad to 'close' in the current climate, however prior to covid I would be singing a different tune...Absolutely the best Indian food in town and probably the best for a long way surrounding.Keep up the good work and thank you!
