JMs Fish and Chip Restaurant in Bassetlaw

Ordered from here first time tonight food was really good I won't be ordering from anywhere else and delivered on time yes forgot my bottle of pop but went out of his way to bring it for me the delivery guy couldn't apologize enough he was polite and smiley good job all round well done I would definitely recommend ✅

Lovely food - not at all greasy, freshly cooked. I Ordered online for collection- easy to do, and ready spot on time. Also have a takeaway counter and sit in. Recommended

ordered on just eat, i understand there is a lack of delivery drivers so i won’t put 1star. I waited an hour for my delivery, i called 10 minutes before it arrived and asked if it had been sent- they said ‘no it is just cooking now’. It came stone cold, and unfortunately none of the meal had any flavour, definitely wouldn’t come again 😞

Just had haddock chips and mushy peas. The batter on the fish was beautifully crispy. Highly recommended

Takeaway:Visited JM's as we were passing through the town centre. I had quite high hopes for this restaurant as it comes up as being a top rated one in the area, now I will say it is a decent place for your fish and chips craving but I wouldn't say the best. I had a few reservations that would make me hesitant visiting again.1) There doesn't appear to be a "meal deal for one" on any of the menus, this wasn't an issue as I was purchasing for my partner and I, however if she didn't want the standard meal but I did there did not appear to be any way to fullfil this. The only options were for 2, 3 or 4 people to get any form of manageable portions instead of having to purchase large chips, fish and sides separately which from a quick calculation appeared to be 20% more expensive than a simple half the "meal for 2"2) The service was a bit "off" perhaps they were having a bad shift but they only appeared to want customers in the restaurant, not wanting takeaway and as a result, only using the takeaway service for quick cadh. Our order was taken without much of a word, cash was given and we were asked "do you want change" which would have been about £8 from the £20 I had given... That would have been a 40% tip.3) Got home, opened up to find the fish had been smashed into the box with quite a soggy batter due to excess oil. However the fish itself was quite nice.Good points:1) Better gravy than West Carr road (voted Retford's best)2) Quite cheap in comparison to others in the town center3) Offers inside dining

We ordered some food from here last night, turned up with half a portion of chips, no sausage and the peas looked disgusting. We called up to ask about what was going to be done about the lack of food in our order, we were told that the owner/manager would be dropping the rest off "soon" after 2 hours we'd given up with the idea of getting the rest of it. Today we've come outside and they'd left the rest of the order on a bench outside our house but nobody had knocked, rung the doorbell or called us. Would not reccomend, very poor service really.

We moved to the area a while ago and we have struggled to find good fish and chips. Delighted to report the struggle is over! Ordered for collection and all was ready on time. The fish was excellent with wonderfully crispy batter and the chips were delish. The best thing was the lack of grease which we hadn't been able to find til now. JM's is worth the small extra distance and will now be our regular chippy :)

Really lovely piece of cod this evening, batter was crispy and tasty and fish was perfect. Had been looking forward to satisfying my urge for fish and chips and wasn't disappointed

Called into the restaurant today, with my father Alan. We had what were the best fish and chips we have ever had. The fish was absolutely outstanding.

A Great sit down fish and chip Restaurant, there's take away too. Fine food is all cooked to order and it's really tasty !
