My family and I , had an amazing Sunday dinner today , friendly and good service. Really good food . Nice atmosphere.

Lovely place to have a nice meal and a drink. Definitely a place to be having a date night. The staff are wonderful too

We were recommended to visit here for a meal so decided to give it a go . Boy we weren’t disappointed.we were greeted with a very friendly welcome, we had a drink before being seated and looked after and our order was swiftly taken by a very nice young lady.We both had the roast beef Sunday dinner, it arrived very well presented with plenty of fresh veg and excellent tasty beef and all the trimmings.We had a really nice time here all the locals were all chatty and it had a lovely atmosphere all in all we had a great time and hope to return soon. I would definitely recommend this beautiful place.

Waitress knew nothing about the menu. Asked if they do cocktails, she asked another member of staff and didn't return. Service poor and place drab and dirty. However, food was good.

I’ve frequented the square and compass for many years (mainly for Sunday dinners!) since I was a little girl, it was a lovely nostalgic visit for another fantastic Sunday roast, the food was exceptionally presented and gorgeous to eat! But the main prize is the staff, our lovely waitress was very attentive to our needs, polite and just a general sweetheart. This is the first time we’d ever come out for a meal with our two young children due to the pandemic and I was very nervous, but ‘Nanny P’ came to our rescue, she lovingly offered twice to pace with our 3 month old in her pushchair for us to enjoy our meal hot (a luxury for any parent!) and even helped coax our two year old into eating, I’ll be honest, more than he’d eaten all week with the promise of a lollipop! They made us feel so welcome, it put all my worries at ease, I honestly can’t recommend enough, a stunning little gem of a place with an amazingly homely atmosphere!

We stayed overnight in our motorhome as they are in the Brit Stop book, and our friends met us and we had a lovley meal, all the food was excellent and we were very well looked after.

Not the biggest of menus but the food was exceptional and cooked to perfection. Waiting staff were helpful, attentive and friendly. My smoked haddock was brilliant and will be my choice again on the next visit. Highly recommended.

This place was sort of in the middle of nowhere as far as tourists go but was worth the trip. It was a rustic old building that housed the pub with a modern annex that had the guest rooms. The evening meal was excellent and served in the pub as was breakfast. The host was super friendly and welcoming, the room was large a clean with a nice big bathroom. The locals that we met while there were also good company. A good place to stay.
