Super Riverside pub with loads of outside seating overlooking the River Idle . Good choice of drinks including 3 cask ales and a chilled wines . Extensive food menu . Just the place to go on a nice sunny day we will be back soon with our 2 collies as outside seating is dog friendly.

We went for a carvery which was lovely. We booked a table in advance but they didn't seem to have room for us so we had to sit on 2 separate tables which wasn't ideal. The food was nice and reasonably priced.

Recently stayed across the road at Haxey Quays caravan and camping park So had a wonder over to the Haxey gate, It was really nice. Dinner time had the small lasagne with Homemade chips, They were gorgeous. So Crispy And so we're the portion of onion rings we had. Small meal option for £6.00 was fantastic value. We went back at night. Steak with peppercorn sauce and a Hunters chicken were both delicious. With those fantastic Crispy home made chips again. Photos below are of the dinner time small menu

Good range of beers and a wide menu, including a selection of extremely good value "specials". Friendly staff and an interesting building with distinctly different areas to sit. I don't live in the area but have been to this pub with family over the years. Always a warm welcome and good food, and the beer is moderately priced at around £3.30 for a premium pint. Last visit : late November 2021.

I haven't been here for a few years and the last time I did it was impeccable and this time was no different! I called to see if I needed to book and was told no need and to turn up. When I arrived the lady who I suspect to be the landlady said are you the person who rang up and we had a nice chat. I had rib eye steak, onion rings and chips for the main and the steal was cooked to perfection and very very tender, it shames steaks twice the price.. The staff were extremely polite with the server and waiter been very nice. I would not hesitate in recommending this gem to anyone who wants a lovely meal. For 3 people with mains, deserts and drinks was an incredible £55! Can't wait to go back!!! If the staff or owner is reading this kudos to you!!

We visited this pub on Bank Holiday Monday. Sat outside to start with, over looking the river. It was quietish for a Bank Holiday in our opinion. It was table service and good service was initially given then it dropped off. We had to keep going inside to get attended to. Eventually we made the decision to go and sit inside. It's only a small bar area (which was full mainly with locals) but they do have an extension/patio area which is mainly used for food.We and the table next to us was asked if we were planning on having food. We both said yes but was greeted with, you've only got until 5pm to order. It was about 4:50. We said it was too early, we wanted a few more drinks, so too the other table said the same. We said we would leave it then. The male server then came back and said, we could go as late as 5:30pm. Still too early for us but the other table accepted his offer. Just FYI, behind the bar, there's a notice board saying, food was served until 8pm, every day. See pic. Most of the other table had fish and it looked nice. 2 pieces of fish on each.

Visited here 23rd June with the scooter lads and what an amazing evening. What a lovely pub and welcoming atmosphere. Lovely surroundings too. Really enjoyed my time here and will be visiting again in the near future.

We had a great evening here, we sat outside as a family (with dogs). The food was lovely, the service was friendly and timely. We had fish and chips and the kids had kids meals which were great quality too. There were lots of water bowls out for the dogs. The bar overlooks the canal and has a very picturesque setting. I'd highly recommend.
