The White Lion in Bassetlaw

Tried their Sunday dinner. Meat was cooked to perfection, I liked how vegetables was served in a separate bowl so that dining party can choose how much vegetables they want on their plate. Gravy and their roasties were very lovely too.

Walk in 14:45hrs Sunday afternoon. Told there was no space for ordering food until 17:00hrs as fully booked as a party booking was to arrive soon (we sat by the restaurant entrance and did not see them arrive ….) and priority was given to booked reservations. 60% of pub restaurant unused for the 2hrs we waited for food. Two restaurant tables of poss eight did have “Reserved” on them but others were set up for dining but were never used. When we did get served, the food was good, the general restaurant staff were very amenable and the restaurant area was much quieter and more conducive than the noisy bar area. We felt the restaurant operation could have been so much better managed. Most importantly the Owner/“Head Waitress”? needed a quiet word to help her understand how she might handle the stress more professionally and speak less aggressively to the customers ……

Nice lovely pub nice atmosphere food looked Lovely friendly polite staff plenty of choice on the larger and bitters loved the corona draught with lime as well

Fantastic place. Never been before. We took the dogs for a walk and sat outside in the beer garden with a couple of drinks. Had a great selection of draughts and the food looked amazing. Will be going back for some food next time. Will update when been....So now been for food and WOW.. the food is incredible. I had a simple pizza but everything else looks really special. Would 100% recommend 👌

Fantastic menu. I was not disappointed with the pub's signature dish, Steak & Ale Pie. It was delicious and extremely filling. Staff were friendly and obliging. Would definitely come here again.

Busy Pub with good food. Enjoyed meal outside as had dog with us. They did say the dog was welcome inside.

Staff were friendly & speedy. Food was very nice, though the Vegetarian thai green curry I ate was nice, I'll order something else next time. Lots of Gluten, Dairy free options and Vegan/ Vegetatian. Loved the Pistachio liqueur. Left feeling Merry and tipsy. Lovely night. ❤️

Nice atmosphere outside and friendly enough staff.I ordered a vegan burger, the kitchen had run out of vegan mayo and coleslaw (I understand this happens), but there was no option of replacing this with anything similar. The result was pretty dry. Standard chips came alongside, not the triple cooked chips we could see on the tables nearby (which were extra), I wouldn't call it gastropub grub. I think the entirety of my meal came from the freezer and I paid £12 for the privilege.There was also a rather strange policy of having people pay for food and drinks outside before it arrived. I suppose there must be a reason for doing this, but it didn't put me at ease.
