Beautiful oldie worldie pub, romantic if you were on a date. The food was outstanding, we both ordered fillet steak which was a 10oz..it just melted in your mouth we both said it was the best steak we'd ever had. Ordered the cheese cake for dessert which was home made..again the best one I'd ever had. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us, the only fault we had was it was cold inside. The heating was on but wasn't doing much to keep us warm. We will definitely be going back but will be wearing warmer clothing.

We live locally and have eaten here before a few times. On each occasion the food has been beautiful and the service outstanding.However, on our most recent visit, I have to say the main course was disappointing. The starters were lovely but the steak we all had really wasn't up to standard. I really do think that the restaurant should consider having fillet steak on the menu instead of sirloin. They did used to so I'm not sure why they haven't any more.Considering that our bill was well over £100 for three of us, it's not a even a case of getting what you pay for.

First time here and very impressed, don't let the car park put you off, the interior is very clean and well laid out. The waiters and waitresses are very good, friendly and polite and the food was of a good standard, the home made tirimisu was tasty but there was lots of cream, I prefer more sponge. £85 for 2 people, 1 shared starter, 2 mains, 2 dessert, 2 baileys 2 cocktails and 2 glasses of wine was was reasonable, I would recommend.

We had been meaning to try this little restaurant for a while, we finally managed to get a night and booked a table. I had pre ordered some sparkling wine for our table. On arrival all was great, we were shown to our table and the wine poured, great staff with a warm welcome. Unfortunately things went a little downhill from there, we had a good 50minutes before we got our starters, we found that whilst looking great on the plate they were a little lacking in flavours, Again the mains were also a bit disappointing, I would have given this review less stars but credited must be given to the warm atmosphere and nice staff.

The food here is really well done and the staff are friendly. The menu is very good. The starters are exceptional. We usually go for the specials when they're on but there unfortunately weren't any when we last went. Definitely worth a visit for a special occasion. Main meals are relatively expensive for the area at £16-£24.

We have been to the restaurant numerous times before and never been disappointed so booked for a retirement party. However I wont be going back! Party of 20 had pre ordered our meals and paid £200 deposit restaurant nearly empty on Friday night never a good sign. We were seated late and then had a 40min wait for our starters...2 of which were missing. On to mains, after another lengthy wait they arrived...1 steak was sent back as not cooked to order and a chicken dish was served raw in the middle, accompanying veg arrived later and were only warm not hot and by which time mains were nearly cold. Spoke to the waiter who said every thing was fine "just eat it" so asked for manager and was told there wasn't one there! Asked if restaurant had changed hands told yes recently. Finally got to speak to chef/owner outside who admitted there were problems blamed fact that it was cooked fresh! On top of this they had no House white wine, no Rose wine at all! We were never offered a dessert menu or coffee etc....very disappointed to say the least!Show less

Amazing..... We travelled from Glasgow for an event in Renishaw and found this GEM. The food was incredible, the staff were great...suggesting options and special. We loved the food so much we are planning another 500 mile round trip just to eat here again. If you live near here and have never eaten here......WHY NOT?

My partner and I have been a few times now and every time it has been great. The food is outstanding and the service is excellent and personal.Already booked in for Christmas and can't wait to have dinner there again.
